RuneCoins are Solomon's General Store currency. The max amount of coins you can have is 2147M ~. Spirit shards are used to compensate for the remainder of the price of the many Discontinued Items that are indeed over the full cashstack threshold. Yes. This is essentially due to the demand drastically superseding over the supply.
Whether they're traded for cosmetic purposes or overall collecting purposes, each player has their own personal goal to strive for that keeps them playing, funding the game we love; so I personally find them as a great incentive to the game for players seeking that ultimate endgame goal.

Or, maybe x caused rares to rise. X shouldn't happen, because players won't play if pursuit of rares become the central focus of the game and such an impossibility.
The game has become so easy. So, now, players just pursue party hats. There's nothing else to do.
