With the recent news post it looks like we are getting an event similar to the platinum nex armor event and a treasure hunter event. Am I the only one here who is disappointed? A vast majority of players won't get any of the items mentioned, the only ones who will are those are are either A) extremely lucky, B) spends thousands of real life dollars on treasure hunter, and or C) Has millions if not billions of gp to just throw around. Even the Yak Track as issues in that not everyone can play long enough to complete it. Looking back at the event with the nex platinum armor tokens all I see in my future with this rapping paper event is useless junk (low healing food) that I'll just end up dropping. I don't see why the green Santa outfit (excluding the hat) couldn't have been something that everyone can earn for free like the 2008 version. Sometimes it feels like the devs only see us for our wallets and not as actual human beings who just want to enjoy the game we all love.

Heavily agree with you. These "holiday events" are all sourced basically through th anymore. What would be fun about getting 1-2 pieces of a santa costume because you don't wanna pay real cash to get the rest. OG Holiday content was super fun for the COMMUNITY as a whole. I get the company has to make money but isn't mtx shoved down the throats of every player constantly on a daily basis enough already? Bring back the original quest events that lets EVERY participating player to unlock emotes and outfits/weapons! Not just pay-2-win items that only the select few people willing to spend hundreds of dollars on Jagex's cash grab MTX events. "Anything lost can be found again, except for time wasted."

Exactly, while some mtx when done right can be a necessary evil, RS3 has too much. It would be a different story if one could just buy the green Santa outfit directly with real cash because with that we at least know what we are paying for, but putting them on treasure hunter means most players will never get it. It's the same for the new dye coming out most players won't get the dye and will only get the 2 lowest tier of wrapping paper. The worst part is that Ironmen/women accounts get left out when events are done like this. I miss the old events where we had to go talk to npc's we don't normally talk to or rarely get to talk to.

Holiday Events used to be a big reason I'd return to Runescape and play the game, at least for some time. So for me, this is just pushing me further and further away.

I wish I hadn't gotten Premium Membership last year just for the simple fact that they did nothing to make me want to subscribe again.

I am sick of us not getting actual events because the players all they care about is xp and stuff we do for 20 minutes and then we are done. That is what made holiday times in this game great. And all of that is gone.

People have complained about MTX in the past and I defended Runescape because everyone did it now. But Runescape has taken it way too far, beyond any other MMO that is out there. Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

Unfortunately a large portion of the money that Jagex gets is from Treasure hunter. So as long as people with gambling addictions continue to spend their money this way it'll only get worse. It would be a different story if these mtx items could just be bought directly with real money because then the buyer would at least know what they are paying for and anyone with the spare cash that wants the item doesn't have to gamble for it. It would still be a cash grab if the items worked that way but there would be more honor to it and it would be available to more players.

You got it totally wrong. TH is not any "holiday event". The actual holiday events like Presents From the Sledge, Advent Calendar and Free Daily Present are totally FREE with no MTX.

You can still find such seasonal events in OSRS, they kept the old school way of delivering real, quality updates.

Sledge is just a lure for gambling. They sell presents for keys. In fact, they used this same system for our wonderful celebration of 300 million accounts created.

I hammered and slaved, used piles of keys and all I got was the feeling that they don't care about people at all. Just the money.

THAT is their idea of a Holiday celebration. We've fallen pretty far in the last year. As expected.

You mean - like this trick or treat "community effort event" last month? Which was so much of a waste of time, the community only bothered to barely complete the second out of four milestones and almost failed even at that? I can't blame them - I already despised the event long before I was personally done.

And while that certainly was a new low - with some very few exceptions (I don't know how it was earlier, I'll refer to the last three to four years for that matter) those previous events are decent at best, more often than not just mediocre - it's an insult to compare those to the events we had had later in RS2. They just do not feel like putting much of an effort into them - they so often just feel like they only exist for players to be able to grab the rewards of the previous years. Honestly - they're usually just run from A to B to C to D to A and talk to some NPC kind of events - which is really fun seeing how broken run energy in that game still is - almost just like they wanted to showcase this - with the exception of last year's easter which allowed you to teleport from NPC to NPC so you wouldn't have to bother with that crap.

Of course - this year h'ween was low even compared to that and I even had prefered the RS3 one due to not feeling like an utter waste of time - not that I would want to call this event even remotely as something as good - it was at least afkable and done more quickly... Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2
