support.
if anything existing 120's should be squished back to 99 max.
"we cant fit all the content into 99 levels"... as if they can't just fit more than one unlock per level as they always did...
arch 120 offers just a few extra relic powers over 100m exp (which you cant activate at the same time anyway), CONTENT INTENSIFIES! and no i don't consider new dig areas as content as they just give the same materials + renamed artifacts just to make it look different.

Absolutely this, there tend to be huge content gaps in mid-levels for skills, and skills that only give benefits to lower levels.
There's no reason to add 99+ content when lower down you're spending 10 levels with only one thing to do in the skill.

yeah, id rather have several options each level instead of being forced to do the same thing for 3 levels. arch training be like: unlock new digsite -> farm there for 2-3 levels -> switch digsite

could have unlocked a new digsite at each level if it went up to lvl 99.

Archaeology isn't complete so far (ignoring the fact that more stuff could come otherwise - like other skills were able to accumulate over two decades) - at least a sixth digging site is currently missing (and considering there is currently a useless material storage upgrade at level 90 it's likely to start right there and providing stuff up to 120 - should that be squished in 10 levels?).

Isn't it sorta ironic when lots of skills were fine to be going to 99 when they literally hadn't had any justification to go past 50 for years over years?

To be fair, we've been complaining about those too. Also still questioning why firemaking ever existed in the first place when until recently its only application was 100% achievable at level 1. Even now with bonfires and incense it's still pointless.

Agility is hands-down the most painful skill to train right now. You can't even semi-afk it, you just have to keep clicking the same obstacles for hours on end 10+ levels at a time, and it has barely any practical applications either outside of quest requirements. Especially since the lodestone network made every shortcut and unique travel method obsolete unless you're like me and use them just to avoid monotony. But you know what agility really needed? A level 120.

It's a bit outdated, but it shows fairly well how much skills make use of their current level caps: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/bx8l5m/max_level_of_skills_if_we_only_went_up_a_level_on/

I actually do not think that a skill like firemaking would be introduced nowadays, but it's actually fairly decent in a support role now (as you said - bonfires, incense - and also passive stuff like its interaction with smithing). More could always be done, but it's actually not as bad as it still was in 2018 for instance. Likewise - why is fletching its own skill (with an except for scrimshaws extremely limited field of use), when it could've just been a subskill of crafting.

I do agree with you that agility is an horrible skill to train (and I do not much more than my pillar standing for many years now - okay - except for token xp drops that come in every now and then and when I had to farm my surge/escape codicies).

But saying that agility is useless, just because the game is not unplayable before you have ground out several dozens of levels (as it was one day and still is in OS) is ignorant (ignoring the fact that your stamina could still run out even at level 99 - even though it wouldn't be that common). If you would do treasure trails you'd know that shortcuts are incredibly useful (especially ones that were introduced for them) - and shortcuts can always significantly envalue a skill even more - and especially in the 90+ area there are a lot of empty levels, that could be filled up with shortcuts. Players are craving for some on anachronia...

Does it need 120 levels? I wouldn't say for now, but maybe in a few years - but I rather would see the mid level experience fixed first (even though anachronia did a lot in that aspect). We do not need rooftops like in OS (since there literally no other courses were available), but our useless courses (penguin, werewolf, bandos,...) should be made appealing.

I personally think that it's okay for some skills to go beyond 99 as long as they do it in a phased manner and that they introduce enough interesting / worthwhile content to keep you busy from 99-120. This would give the max / completionist players more content to chew on and feel rewarded for the levels they gained. (I really can't be bothered to go for 200m xp in a skill "just" to be proud at myself lol). Pushing beyond 99 opens a lot of exciting possibilities for Jagex to expand the game and make the game more enjoyable for the end-game players.

However, I do agree that some skills could better stay at 99 instead of raising the cap to 120. There is no need to keep on free-running from building to building day and night just to be able to jump over a little wall shortcut to get to your favourite slayer creature (yes, I'm talking about kuradal's dungeon).

I honestly as a lot of people before me in this thread do not mind skills going to 120 as long as there’s enough content. I do however not support skills going to 120 just for the sake of the level.
Also a more controversial thing and maybe a bit off-topic I’d also like it when a future skill would actually be harder/slower to grind, this will keep people busy for longer and also feel more rewarding once you get there.
For the past 2 skills that came out people got like 200m after 2-3 weeks I mean I know they play a whole lot more than the average person but still this seems a bit too fast in my opinion :)

Important part for both skills was that money can help a lot with skilling them (especially insane with invention which had had its first 200m on day 2, but other than that its potential caps out at level 27) and in the case of archaeology it actually was developed with 120 levels in mind. Original divination basically had no scaling - and well skills older than this most often only had content up to level 50-70 when they were released and for a long time afterwards - of course they're taking longer then.
