@Aurelle

You totally misquoted me. I didn't say anything remotely like "colossal waste of developer and player time".

Necromancy its skill tree are totally bland new content. They have never done that in the past so absolutely no mistakes to learn from.

I agree with the pace and methodology the RS3 team is doing with skill trees. It is going to be slow but more talent point we put into a branch, the more powerful we get. This is what Mod Hooli said of the AOE build.

Skill tree is totally independent of revolution or full manual modes. Shrug! Nobody forces anybody to use any mode.

You proposed that Jagex not learn from other games that have done things like Necromancy to speed up its development process, in deliberate ignorance of my points, and that is the colossal waste of developer and player time.

In the middle of a fight, a player has a certain set of actions available to them, and it is irrelevant to that moment whether those actions are provided from a levelling system called "skills" or "classes" or something else entirely. A player needs certain information to fight effectively, and it is extremely relevant that they have it, but irrelevant whether the UI elements providing it are called "overhead stacks" or "job gauge" or something else entirely. And so on.

So it is not only possible but wise for Jagex to learn from those other games about things like necessary combat actions, clear interfaces, balancing, ... and then provide those things through a RuneScapey levelling process and broader systems.

Oh and by the way, one of FFXIV's jobs has a specific named NPC who meets the player character through the job story and chooses to assist and accept orders from the player character in battle. She has her own history, personality, and desires, which play a significant role in the job story - at least as much importance as any conjure! That doesn't stop players from referring to her as a "pet" or the job as a "pet job" / "pet class", because "pet" is the standard MMO term for allies with that mixture of autonomy and accepting commands, regardless of why they act that way. And such allies provide very similar in-fight experiences regardless of their lore background, which experiences Jagex can learn about!

Jeremy Cheng was providing feedback to Jagex in the form of discussing potential optimizations with conjures - something on topic for this thread, and that Jagex explicitly asked for. I discussed those optimizations in the context of a player's learning process, which Jagex wants to ensure is smooth with Necromancy. Neither of us mentioned skill trees, nor are they relevant to this thread.

Why would you bring Jeremy's post or skill trees into it? Are you having trouble with reading comprehension, to understand why I brought up the transition from Revolution to Full Manual as a comparison?

If you want to talk about skill trees, make your own thread and discuss them there. Oh wait, you already have your own thread about skill trees and Necromancy. Perhaps you should post there instead.

If you want to praise Jagex and express your confidence, make your own thread for that too. It is not on topic here. As I said previously, talking about something that seems vaguely related is merely a waste of your time and your fellow players' time - ironic when you're making it more difficult for us to give the feedback Jagex asked for!

I've removed a few recent posts just to keep the peace.

Remember if someone posts something you may not like then your best option is ignore it and move on. If you reply to it it could make matters worse and more Off Topic comments are posted.

Ignoring it really is the best option. ;)

If however you feel it could be or is Rule Breaking by all means make a Report to the Forum Help thread and a Member of the F-Mod team will check it out and deal with it if needed.

Hope that helps.

Also Skills out soon so We will ALL see how it goes. ;)

@Dilbert2001

I've removed your recent post.

Again you are going Off Topic as to what the OP is discussing.

Threads not about Skill Trees. Please stop bringing it up.

If you wish to discuss the topic you are posting about use your own thread. OP's topic is on post 1 and re-referenced several times through out this topic. You keep trying to stray the thread Off Topic. The OP does not wish this. If you can't stick to the OP's topic then please move on.
