If they state that these rewards will be discontinued then I think people will do the 4 months.
- Lets be real, they'll do it anyway, but players would happier with 'exclusive' rewards IMO.

Being time limited / creating a sense of urgency is a smart move, it gets people to pull out their wallets. But if this event will happen again in the future, with the same rewards given, I'd rather not take part. I'm waiting for more info to come out on this though! it looks like a great idea! The membership costs doesn't bother me as much as the 4 month grind would, knowing that people will get the same rewards years down the road. Just my 2 pence.

Re-releasing stuff in general is a lazy cop-out excuse for not putting in the time to create new content/items. You could argue for people getting a second (or third) chance at an item but fat luck if they aren't there to get it first time round. They ought to be happy with 'current' rewards for 'current' events, not be after 'past rewards' for 'current' events. Sorry, rant over.

Let's see how it goes though. Regardless of rewards it'll be funny to see everyone low level!

I don't think they will be discontinued. However, if it seems like they said in today's livestream that the new "rares" can only be traded once off the GE and they become untradeable, hence I think most players will hold on to them for very high price before they want to part with them.

games becoming a joke. takes away from the old school accounts who actually had to grind for the skill lvls we have. Now its more and more of a cash grab. many mmos have done this and all have failed. when you gonna take care of the 20 yr old accounts who actually got what they have through time and thought. love this game always have but your gonna ruin this game if you do this. gonna do something for new players and give them exp rates better take care of the old players too then. rs isnt meant to be a easy game its meant to be a grind a long grind at that. 20 yrs ive played this game 20 yrs i got to where im at for what now? so someone can get to where im at in 4 months doesnt seem right. but what do i know only been around since sleeping bags. love ya rs but might wanna think this one through

Huh? I only see all the MMOs with "cash grab" getting grabbed by the likes of Microsoft and Tencent for billions and billions of $$$, causing grindy games like OSRS have to go for cash grab game modes like the 5x xp rate Leagues just hoping to survive.

The update is focussed too much on income for Jagex and too few on the players. Next to that I think Jagex is encouraging unhealthy grinds which some people can't resist because they're addicted.

The players that work during the week don't have a chance on the new rares. The people not sleeping 3 days in a row for this game will be the ones that you make happy.

I do like the rares, but doubt this is the way to spread them.

Most definitely Jagex has to care about their revenue and margin as they are underperforming the video game industry (18% revenue growth from RS3 and 6% from OSRS vs 23% from the game industry) as per their last revealed financial report. Players need to realize if Jagex doesn't perform competitively, their owner has to dump it for investment of better return. It will be much worse.

Jagex is actually not encouraging grinding. Don't you see they have up to 3 times xp rate in the Fresh Start Worlds, although not as big as the 5x xp in OSRS Leagues?

How is this any different than Darkscape other than they are making you pay?

Noone is making you pay.

There's other context to the post. Thanks. I'm well aware we are able to make our own decisions.

Darkscape didn't cost you anything additional, it's the same concept as Darkscape with that being the looming difference.

Jagex need money so our game can survive. I really like this concept but I would personally change few things.

1. I have absolutely no problem with paying for the new game mode but they should do some kind of ''package'' deal for already paying members, potentially premier club members.
I see this as another form of ironman mode, you also started with fresh account and had to pay, if you wanted to - of course.

2. Having x4 experience boost is NOT fair to players with mains despite all double experience weekends and bonus experience, it is just not fair if they merge all accounts to hiscores. I would probably do x2 boost at best for like a month. They had option to delete accounts and that would be very wrong too because all progress would be lost. Is there a way for Jagex to track real experience in the fresh worlds so they can scale down when they merge into hiscores? 20% drops is absolute nonsense also, very wrong thing to do.

Like I've said, I really like the concept but they need to remove few extremely unfair things and I'm sure majority of players would support this.
The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.
