I gotta say lame jagex its your fault the jmods going to those other plateforms players stopped posting here because they felt no one listens to them here no response from jmods staff etc. And that only a few elite players on those other forms jagex responds to. The other forums put us players more at risk. I got a virus from redit when I went one time so stopped going. And ya I posted a lot over the years 20 plus used to get more feed back from players and jmods. But then declined when you split the forums from all players to high level forums. If just one forums and jagex stop posting on other forums and actually use only runescape forums then players would be forced to come back to one spot. For years you said dont risk your accounts gonig to other sites but, yet jagex makes us goto twitter and other places to get any help or feed back. :@

Also gotta say one reason I started this game because I could voice my ideas and jagex would sometimes look at them and put in game in similar forms. Over 20 years ago since I cant actually program to make own game I felt it was like I was contributing. I wont use redit or the other plateforms you said. Probably be last year on members also anyway. Game has too much dead content and getting less fun lately even the updates for holidays seem only a few elite players gettting the best rewards even you spend hrs of game time on.

I've always used the forums and I don't use any of the platforms, discord, X, or Reddit or any of that stuff due to data breaches. What if we have technical difficulties with future upgrades? If there is no way to get help, search for solutions, get info on mini games and distractions and help with updates? How are we supposed to communicate or get help for many of us older and longterm participants who pay and don't use the outside means of communications you are talking about. I still refer to the forums for different types of info. Please reconsider. You may end up with many of us long time supporters leaving over this. Your forums have always been great and incredibly helpful and informative. Why on earth would you take that friendly and well done means of us getting help from you all and from fellow game players for troubleshooting. This is a very poor judgment call on your part as a company. A lot of older and gen alpha members both are getting very frustrated with data breaches from these third party social media vendors and no longer use them nor do we want to be forced to use them and have data further exposed. Would rather quit the game than have those irl circumstances or id theft. Really bad decision on the corporate team's part. Thank you for being a great game and website until now.

In the end of the day it probably it is what it is. Jagex mostly abandoned the forums for at least the past 5 years and a lot of players migrated to those things for at least quite some time longer than that. That was a process, that already started 15 years ago and more - the platforms at that time being facebook and twitter, rather than reddit and discord. And still I do think none of the platforms are useful for things, that just are supposed to hold more relevance for longer than a few hours, days or a week at most. When it isn't stickied or instantly hyped up, it will plummet down into the abyss quite fast. At least reddit can be used to find some content from 8 years ago (I mean - unless they're 'going dark' due to management decisions once more). For discord? For-fricking-get-it. It has its purpose, but it certainly isn't to archive things.

The forums certainly weren't perfect, but they were a nice place for discussion even today. But as I said - it probably is what it is.

Some of my best RSOF memories have been made in the Future and Recent Game Updates forums. It's been years at this point, but I'll never forget both waiting in anticipation for whatever would arrive next (LOTW), rushing into the game to play through the content, followed by discussing the good and bad parts. It really felt like these two forums in particular were shaped by a very enthusiastic and constructive group of players.

Thanks for all the memories and I hope everyone continues to look forward to and to contribute to whatever is next for Runescape.

PS: English King, your name sounds awfully familiar. World 36 by any chance back in '05? Otherwise it's probably just due to a shared decade or two on the RSOF :)

It's not as if Jagex is any more impervious to data breaches, and the RS forums particularly are so archaic that they probably qualify as a relatively high security risk. These older forum platforms are notorious for being an easy source of data leaks. I'd nary a guess that Jagex invests far less into data security than the huge platforms of Discord, Reddit, and Twitter, proportionate to userbase and revenue, so you should probably be more worried about the call coming from inside the house, as it were. It's still a valid concern to be sure, but ultimately you can just sign up to any service with a secondary email and unique password to mitigate the risk of sensitive information being leaked.

I think you'll find that these sorts of interactions and information gathering are far easier and more reliably obtainable via other platforms. Generally speaking, you can even search for this information on those platforms without signing up or logging in; If there's a problem you're experiencing, someone has probably already posted about it on Reddit.

Again, this is a valid concern, but it ultimately boils down to personal mitigation. Don't sign up with your "real" email or name, use a unique password, maybe use a VPN.

Removal of RSOF is incredibly disappointing. Like so many other ways they've managed to neglect and kill many other areas of the game over time.

I still use information on here on the daily, and I refuse to use any of the sources mentioned other than the wiki .

Who remembers the old knowledge base? ;) Just to have my "in my day, uphill both ways, kids get off my lawn" moment...

Yeah, the rise of social media basically set off a "death spiral" that killed off traditional forums on games like this:

Step 1: Players left for social media because it was more convenient to get everything all in one place.

Step 2: Developers left their forums to focus on social media because that's where the players went.

Step 3: The players who didn't originally leave ended up going to social media because that's where the developers went.

Step 4: Repeat steps 2-3 ad infinitium until it's just not worth the resources needed to keep the forums up anymore.

Step 5: Death. <---- We are here.

I've seen it happen over and over again in several online games of the same era. It was never a question of if Jagex would pull the plug on this place, only when . And honestly, it's kind of impressive that it's taken this long considering how rare it was to see even 10 players online on the forums at any one time.

I don't really understand this part.

How is going to a different website for RS social interaction getting it all in one place?

I don't disagree with your post, I just don't understand how leaving the RS bubble became more convenient.
