More on the implemetation of console controls...

We already have the surge, escape kind of movement abilities and we activate them with keybinds once when they are associated to abilities bars. Essentially when we can map a joystick control to a keybind then we are already free of the legacy point-and-click movement, We know we can surge FORWARD, and ESCAPE backward, and the movement to left and right probably can come from combo abilities like turn-left/right then surge.

The good thing is we actually have plenty of those movement mappings alreaady implemented with EOC.

How that when RS3 is put on a much bigger console screens, we can possibly have more than 4 abilities bars shown on the screen at one time. That's more than enough to add in extra ASDF support already

No hurries actually. Let the new RS survival game goes there first and it shouldn't take long to get all those EOC-ish console control mapping back to RS3. By then, we should have the 0.3s Tick, Avatar Refresh and full scale VFX in RS3 for lots more bang for the buck.

Yes, but not only can we jump, we can leap, roll, backflip, forward and backward already a long time ago in RS3. We have The Circus.

The issue is we have a 0.6s Tick so we can only jump and pause for 0.6s before jump or backflip again. It is not very realistic in a combat situation. We need 0.3s Tick first.

We ae also not doing gymnastic in RS3, we are fighting and firing up our abilities, we need to not just jump but jumping up and firing a Rapid Fire ability and such off our Bow of the Last Guardian. We also need explosive VFX for our large arsenal of EOC abilities.

well i think it is simple enough to bind ability bar slots into simple abxy/X●■▲ button layouts on controllers. right bumper and left bumper switch between ability slot 1234, 5678,90-=, is a start.

It shouldn't be too hard for RS3 once when we see the new Jagex survivial game on consoles. Then it will just be a matter of polishing it a little bit then we see RS3 on consoles following similar EOC ability mapping.
