Zezima was still playing the game, and streaming on Twitch a few months ago but nobody really care (or perhaps even know) about him.

Hiscores are no long a big thing, especially those for a temporary event.

Exactly.

I mean loads of ppl have became 1st ranks in both new skills for rs3 yet no one remembers them even after this short time thats passed since release.

Yet everyone will remember Zezima.

I am actually very happy to see Mod Jack admitting there were some negative comments on Reddit but also revealed Jagex's company focus and actual approval of FSW on the overall big picture, instead of being radio silent.

FYI, OSRS has also put up a post on Fresh Start Worlds (although not up for discussion) in the RSOF:

Quick find code: 380-381-829-66260247

"
Who are Fresh Start Worlds for?
It's for people who haven't played Old School RuneScape and are waiting for the right opportunity to play, and for those who played the game a while ago and are yet to return. We've done a bit of research which shows that this type of fresh start could be quite appealing to these players. Given that Fresh Start Worlds requires minimal development time, we want to test out this theory and see whether we're right!"

It matches 100% what Mod Jack said of Jagex's company focus on lapsed and new players. OSRS didn't mention Fresh Start Worlds is for existing players, also matching Mod Jack's original comment on the purpose of Fresh Start Worlds, which he later clarified.

In point of fact, Mod Jack simply told us the company focus of making Fresh Start Worlds for lapsed and new players, but it doesn't mean they don't care about existing players. OSRS's FAQ on Fresh Start World also illustrated that fact is for their game too.

Although it is not Mod Kieran or Mod Markos's direct message, I absolutely, completely, totally, 100% think OSRS share the same opinion and comment as Mod Jack. Until Mod Kirean or Mod Markos or their higher ups speak up and say otherwise, I have all the reasons to believe it is not just RS3 or Mod Jack's stance on prioritizing lapsed and new players over existing players, it is OSRS and Jagex's focus too.

FSW are an attempt to bring in new players to the game. Being forced to make a new account and abandoning your old one doesn't sound like it appeals to "lapsed" players.

Where was it stated that you have to "abandon you old account"?

All thats being done is something similar to what you do for osrs as even there you have to create a new character.

Yes you can use your existing email, but your character is not the same if you play rs3.

It's not the same as OSRS at all. I pay for one sub on one account to access both RS3 and OSRS. You will have to make a new account and pay for a separate subscription in order to play on Fresh Start.

Your "old account" remains. Nobody needs to abandon anything. That's the answer to the question Miu raised and you are replying to:

"Being forced to make a new account and abandoning your old one doesn't sound like it appeals to "lapsed" players"

Lapsed players like I was until a little over a year ago wouldn't see this as an actual FSW. This is a Jump Start World because you are being herded right into the main game.

Now that I've read the real reasoning behind this, I have more negative feelings about this FSW than positive. People will join and think it's great with all the Boosts and cool shiny items. Then they will be tossed into the exact thing they didn't want to come back to. These players have to start a game with no economy and no GP.

If all Jagex was going to do is give easy leveling they could have just given all new accounts DXP for 6 months. At least there is a flowing economy and tons of Portables and Cores to leach off of. I mean really just call it what it is........a Starter Pack.

As a current player Joining FSW it would be useful for leveling an Alt so next time they do something like Golden Party Hats. That way you can grind out the Shards or whatever better.

I think the lapsed players they are talking about left the game long ago, not just a year or a little over a year or they will be just taking a break. They probably left when they were low levels. Remember, Mod Jack told us the lapsed players asked for the fresh start with new accounts. We have seen plenty of such lapsed players from 2007 coming to the forums and asked it would be good for them to start afresh again in RS3 as they wanted to go through the new tutorials and path system and maybe the new Mobile exclusive Davendale again.

Players left long ago have a lot of interesting things to catch up in RS3. They have a lot to learn like how to make good gp and xp the modern way. Fresh Start worlds make a lot of sense to them. Besides, for long left players returning to a entertaining game like RS3 all they need is just some help in early levels and decent gp to get them through. They don't want 6 months of DXP in the main game.

I think you misunderstood, or I didn't make clear on my exit and rejoining.

I left back when the GE was added. I returned when Mobile was launched. I think that qualifies as lapsed. I have been playing RS3 for a little over a year.

Edit: Adding

RS3 is already 10X easier than RS was back in the day. I couldn't believe how Fast skilling has become. Everything is auto complete not the click fest it used to be. Take bonfires for example, I couldn't understand at first that I didn't have to make lines of burning fires. Mining/woodcutting use to be tough because you had to compete with other players for the nodes.

Any "Lapsed" player would be shocked like I was how different the game is now.

You misunderstand. I don't mean you. I mean the lapsed users Jagex talked about are the ones who left long time ago, not the ones like you.
