Hi all,

As most people are aware, there is a yearly raffle (Rebranded as the Lucky Dip) that occurs in September. In this raffle, you may win items such as deathtouch darts which can be used to earn some massive gp from bosses, as well as winning highly sought after exclusive items such as the Golden God Wars armour and other miscellanious items.

There however has been one well known problem with this raffle since the creation of the raffle, and that is raffle rigging. Individuals will make thousands of accounts with the sole intention of rigging the raffle to dilute the reward pool. They will subsequently destroy the items or trolls with them (I.E. placing hundreds of deposit boxes on the ground so players cannot walk).

One positive step that has been taken to lessen the impact of raffle rigging is adding a minimum total level of 250. While this is nice and slightly limits peoples ability to make as many accounts, Treasure Hunter promotions which give you xp in eevery skill and give you bonuses have unfrotunately mitigated the positive impact this would otherwise have.

To preserve the integrity of the game, we must swiftly act in advance and prepare for everything to ensure the raffle goes out with no problems. I propose that if someone attempts to rig the raffle, that action such as a permanent ban be taken against all accounts involved in this attempt.

Without this guarantee, we cannot guarantee that raffle rigging will not occur. In the past this type of action has been swept under the rug, much to the dismay of players trying to win an item fairly.

To keep everything on topic, please don’t name any individuals that may do this. We are here to look at a solution, not name and shame!

Thank you.

Jagex have tried time and time again to do this yet have always failed.

So its best to just deal with it as ppl will always find loopholes to get what they want.

Plus why should they restrict who can/cant enter just due to a small minority causing trouble?

Tomorrow's update will be perfect for the new "Raffle". The old Raffle wasn't "rigging" to begin with as players are allowed to use alts with no interaction between each other. It wasn't perfect but was well within the Rules.

Tomorrow, we can use alts to "rig" the new "Raffle" too, but by earning tickets through skilling and killing rather. :P

Raffle rigging has really been a grey area, and there hasn't been sufficient action taken to address it in the past. I agree with you that the 250 total level is a step in the right direction, but I don't know if it will be enough. I assume when they came up with that number, they analyzed how many accounts would be excluded and considered the amount of time it would take to reach 250 total. In my opinion, Jagex should raise the total level requirement to 500.

There are folks out there with large sums of alt accounts, some as many as 1,000+ alts. The amount of effort required to get to 250 total takes significant time, but I'd argue increasing the participation requirement to a total level of 500 would vastly reduce the chances of abuse. In cases where people have multiple alts with high total levels, it is likely to just be a handful of alt accounts and doesn't vastly impact the results of the raffle in comparison to few individuals who have managed to enter past raffles with bulk alt accounts.

I agree that in-game action should be taken against people who abuse in-game mechanics, such as this. Hopefully that won't be necessary with the total level changes...

It also seems like there isn't a limited amount of rewards now (except for those five titles at the end of the month), so riggers couldn't take something away from others, which was the main issue before. It's just a chance per ticket now.

It was a long battle, but I'm glad it has finally resulted in a positive outcome :D

Not sure if this would work with the raffle rigging or not. It seems years played and total level should be factored in as well. At this point in the current raffle, I have only gotten XP lamps.

We get a fixed odds in winning a prize in different categories in the current Lucky Dip. Your chance of winning is completely based on your own efforts and luck, and independent on the other players. Nobody except yourself can "rig" the outcome of your own "raffle".

I honestly don't understand this 'rigging' argument.....If you are a member on 30 accounts, you have all legal measures to take part in said event on all 30 as your a customer for 30 accounts which = 30 people. So the true battle here is "too many are members?" OR "too little of rewards for the amount of member ratio" <---both of those are the same meaning. :P

That's like saying "oh your 6 phones all have free texting but you can't use that on 5 of them...."

If jagex gave out free trial membership, maybe they should have thought ahead? <---something no one but myself does it seems. "here's some free membership but please reframe yourself from testing out membership features" ;)

World is going to shit, for how daft people are these days lol.

-----

"Sorry your banned.....turns out your paying us for 20+ account fees in which only 'one' is allowed to be permitted to use our raffle system"

^what a joke lol. They give free membership/you buy it on X accounts, by law your allowed to use it, stop saying people are abusing it, lol, what are they abusing? using a service in-game on all accounts......

people always make me die laughing. :P

And for those that go "but they aren't really paying for them, they use bonds...." still is a GP cost per account but they could remove bonds......to combat the alt farming etc.
