The quest clearly reflexed Ellamaria's past as a commoner who worked in the Blue Moon, as well as a bit of her earlier adventures related to the murderer. Exactly what the preview blog told us.
She's still snarky enough, but certainly no longer as insufferable, I'd just outright want to give her a beating, if I had to endure her for one more quest. I like it and it certainly does feel like character development.

Ellamaria is clearly a seasoned adventurer when she can kill dark beasts that require 90 Slayer:
"Talk about Ellamaria.
Player:
You mentioned that Ellamaria saved you from the dark beasts.
King Roald:
My combat skills are- ah- lacking, to put it lightly. It is not the first time she has saved me and I doubt it will be the last. Her strength is one of the many reasons I fell for her."

To be able to kill dark beasts, we need at least 90 Slayer.
Ellamaria must be a seasoned slayer, and I tip my Slayer Helmet to Jagex to give us the hints, perhaps a significant one to the future of the Slayer skill and the continuing and neverending adventures of their Signature Heroes IP, with such immersive quests and episodic lore based content closely related each other.
Hint hint...do the latest and greatest Dead and Buried quest.
