Hey, just curious. Will jagex ever make level 120 the new “99”
Because getting to level 99 on rs3 now isn’t as much of an achievement as 07.
I seriously think if you guys remove the 99 skillcape and push forward you’re clients/players to 120.
It’ll give more of a boost into the rs3 community.

Rs3 99s are too easy. I don’t feel that I’ve accomplished the skill anymore.
When I got 120 firemaking on a second account, I thought it felt like getting a 99 back in the day.
Because not everyone has 120 capes.

Been playing runescape for nearly 15 years and over that time I’ve seen many updates!
But I have always thought, why not make level 120 the new 99.
Instead of 120 being just a level you go for if you feel like it?
There is more effort going for the 120 capes. But for instance, the armour on the defence skill only goes up to 99. So for 91m experience, you’ve got to go dry without unlocking anything.

It’s seeming to be a waste of a skill update, I thought 100% when you guys introduced 120 skills.
I thought you was going to scrap the 99 master capes for 120 master capes.

Also, changing the subject slightly.
My first 99 was fletching, loved the colour that’s why I got it. Then got it trimmed, didn’t like it anymore because of the gold trim.
Was wondering, why can’t you choose wether or not to buy a trimmed skill cape or an untrimmed skillcape??
This was the case before so other people could see you’ve got more than one 99, but in year 2020, you can now “examine”.
So I don’t see why if you’ve got more than 1 99, why can’t you choose wether or not to buy trimmed skillcape?
I wouldn’t much rather untrimmed fletching.
I think there should be the option.

Anyway, hope you’re staying safe!

No they won't. Nor should they.

If 99's don't feel like an accomplishment to you, then shoot for 120s anyways.

There's little reason for them to push people to go towards 120s outside of updating skills to go to 120.

Part of the reason for 120s is to keep you playing longer.
It takes X amount of time to reach 99. It takes several times that to get to 120.

In turn, it feeds MTX. Promos and XP and items to help "speed up" progress at the expense of GP or IRL money.
Don't want to suffer thru the grind as much? drop down hundreds or thousands of dollars.

From a developmental POV, as you said it yourself, you've been playing a long time.
There is a lot of content in game.
But ... devs can't simply remake say Runite to say need Level 105. Elder Trees to need Level 109 to cut and fletch.

The experiment with the mining/smithing rework shops how much wold have to go into the other skills (ie: wc/fletch/firemaking, crafting/runecrafting) to get a similar rebalance.
Even then, that was just 1-99.
Technically, they could (perhaps even should) have gone ahead with M/S to 120. But if they did that ... then they would have needed to rework melee to also go up to 120. but if they did that, they would have unbalanced combat and thus needed to raise up magic and range and thus rework Crafting, Fletching (and Woodcutting and Firemaking), and Runecrafting to match as well. Which would have basically meant the entirety of the development teams bogged down for 12-18 months on a rework of that scale.

But still, they want to add more and more content. But, Levels 1-99 are kinda stuffed for a number of skills.

The Construction Contracts addition to the Construction Skill is more of a supplemental training method rather than a rework of the skill.

Some skills, like Construction, probably still have so much 'spaghetti code' behind them that reworking the skills in the same vein as M/S is too much to ask. Hence why they are taking other avenues to add to those skills. (ie: non-poh updates, safecracking for thieving)

Eh I disagree.

I started up an Ironman so I can see these updates from a noob perspective instead of mine. And maaan, I’m happy as hell to have 51 mining and 50 woodcutting. ( my highest) . I can’t buy my way into 99s or 200m so also limits me on planning stuff out

I don’t care as much on this account
