They brainlessly replaced every single bar and ore with an equal number of equally tiered stone spirits. Every single bar and ore before the m&s rework was nothing else, but low levelled junk with an overinflated value (I mean: we are talking about t50 materials at best - which just for some random reason needed level 85+ to be processed in order to leave you with some piece of t50 junk again (or even t40 pre-eoc)), which dropped from content in which it no longer belonged (yep - great game design , that endgame bosses dropped t20,30,40 and 50 materials in huge numbers - so huge you never stood a chance to obtain them likewise with the respective skills). Stone spirits continued to be low levelled junk - just worth as much as it would actually be worth. But only because runite or adamant had some high alch value before, it never was adequate to drop at something like telos. Or basically any content released in the decade before him.

Secondary failure was having the spirits available in numbers you just never could use them (except for those, which were so rare, you only made loss by actually using them - took them extremely long for something like light animica, took them even longer for something like tin - a level 1 material, which obviously hasn't dropped much before.

Third failure was basically not doing anything about that issue - yet introducing them to more and more new things. Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2

Compare it basically with anima stones as the other extreme - they only are obtainable by new content, so it's not even feasible to use them for most things. Wood spirits most likely will suffer from the same issue at first. They eventually should replace things - obviously not 1:1, obviously not tier by tier (albeit in here they adjusted wood more in a fashion it representing what it should be (i.e. magic logs as something actually high levelled, rather than mid level crap with overinflated requirements), rather than what it is like with metals back then) and obviously not everywhere.

The announcement of those spirits certainly was a red flag for me as well - and lots of others, which lead them to clarify they won't anything existing (for now) - that kinda saved them. They just need to find a way to do it reasonably - also with other things, which primarily (not exclusively!) should stem from skilling, rather than PvM. Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2

You can actually see the contents of your metal bank from the normal bank now. That was an update that came a while ago. It is at the bottom next to Diango and your POH storages. You can't retrieve anything though, but you can see what you have.

Stone spirits and wood spirits have grossly different values. Stone spirits drop from all sorts of pvm content so pvmers sell them. As long as wood spirits don't drop from pvm content, we will have high values in logs as now logs have been boosted significantly with new construction usages with today's update. Evidently so, as we see logs have gone up in prices significantly, not falling.

This update is great for the RS3 economy as the game is not just designed to benefit only pvmers.
