...and Copperpot, the kinda shifty, unexplained banker NPC who kinda shows up out of nowhere and doesn't have any dialogue!

and that leads me to who the likely killer is of people we (know) are involved......and I'll just spitball.

> I don't think it is anyone in the nobility, and if it is, the story itself probably will need to provide a motive during the quest.

> I'm not sure who would have the motive in the highly regarded commoner class either - and I'm not sure any of this group gets invited to the party in the first place...., but if I were going to say there was someone of that group that I listed to keep an eye on, Mandrith seems incredibly suspect largely due to his recent relocation to the Deep Wilderness (placing him in proximity to Moia and Zamorakian forces nearby), and his history of being involved with people who had a penchant for killing other players in the past, and his profession of being a Slayer Master.

> of the Fort Staff, Copperpot is....gosh what is it the kids say these days..."pretty sus?" Who -is- this guy, and why does he have access to my bank, and what's his deal anyway. The whole not knowing anything about him thing kinda suggests he's being set up to be important later on...

I honestly think the killer might be Copperpot, final answer. He's the only unexplained NPC in the entire Fort, and he most notably requires the player to construct a T1 Town Hall (which is a part of the requirements needed to start 'Murder on the Border.') The Town Hall is -already- overseen by Aster, and that building comes with a bank chest already so Copperpot's function is already questionable. He's also stationed next to a well the player can't even draw water from - that they didn't even build in a structure they otherwise worked on everything else in. Is that his getaway route or something?

The only thing about Copperpot being our perp is... how is he relevant to the questline?

We should know a lot more about this quest, and probably some info on Necromancy next week. They are going to go through some lore, through which we may be able to at least guess who is going to die... I hope it will not be the new Duke, Duchess or Dux... :P

I don't care who dies. I just want to know what the rewards are on monday.

Not sure about anything on Monday, but RS3 Livestreams usually happen on Wednesday.

I'll guess we wiil have some rewards like the Infernal Puzzle Box and the Pontfex Shadow Ring. We may not be able to use them right away, but we gain benefits for every phrase we unlock with future development of the story. Maybe we will have a mysterious Skull we will need to commune the undead society later.

I don't know that Murder on the Border is going to be a particularly demanding quest when it comes to skills, time, or difficulty - and that will probably mean it won't be super rewarding.

---

Quest Requirements that I'm definitely sure of:

> New Foundations

Skill Requirements:

> 30 Construction (boostable as it may not be a stated requirement, required to build t1 command center.)

---

RS has a very old quest that will be similar in theme to this one, in Murder Mystery. The player is likely going to have to be observant and potentially will have to make some deductive reasoning choices during the quest to sus out the person responsible for the murder to come - just as they did in the other quest.

The difference will be in the size of the location of the crime (Fort Forinthry is a bit more sizeable than the Sinclair Mansion after all...) as well as added political intrigue and investment in certain NPCs that the Sinclairs simply didn't offer the player way back when.

The quest shouldn't take too long to complete at all, and while there may be more of a puzzle element in play, or even some combat, I would think that the effort required will be similar to Murder Mystery.
---

Conservatively, I'm going to say that Jagex can safely just hand us our quest points, keys, and maybe some GP for our hard work and/or some Construction experience.

Aggressively, maybe when we find out its Copperpot, we build a well that actually is a water source. :)

I am pretty sure Murder on the Border is more on the lore side than rewards. It is meant to set up the new Necromancy skill similar to how Professor Tony's adventures set up Archaeology.

Anything more than just something initially doesn't have any use like the Infernal Puzzle Box will be more than I am expecting. The real reward of this kind of RS3 style lore based quests is the original stories and creativity we haven't seen elsewhere.

New cooking area looks good! Bob says:
A bank PIN will keep your items secure.
Always check the second trade screen.
Never trade in the Wilderness!
Keep your computer keylogger-free and virus scanned.
Never give your password out to anyone.

The new Kitchen is already more rewarding than I was expecting.

Cooking is definitely needed to support our player owned armies in the future. It will only be surprising if we don't have a new cooking facility.

Now that we need a barrack and an arsenal. :)

I'm gonna have to second Dilbert. Having a new structure for the fort so soon is a little shocking to me. This seemed like a very good quest to introduce a little more steam to the new story arc and keep rewards on the light side. (Hopefully - it doesn't mean we're in for a very short story arc like the Legacy of Zamorak arc was!)

As for the Kitchen itself, definitely makes sense that we would need one functionally too. Ranges are generally better to cook on at lower cooking levels (and lower leveled players -can- access Fort Forinthry.) - and the upgraded kitchens make it a very nice place to prepare food for higher levels too.

The passives are kinda all over the place in my opinion though. Cutting cobweb barriers? Which areas does this apply to? The now-defunct Wilderness seems pretty fitting for the initial kitchen, but something like Arraxor (which, I've never done) getting a benefit from this seems pretty unintentionally good.

---

As for the characters - I'm worried that forcing less than ten individuals into a banquet with an entire spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities, then having the player have to note such identities and further interpersonal relationships into a journal, is too bold of a move that will not have much of a payoff - due to the nature of this quest.

The people complaining about it now are certainly showing who the are, of course - but let's take this example. Let's say the new Duke of Edgeville's partner is deemed the murderer. He's already characterized by the player as "highly flamboyant", which is incredibly tropey for gay men already.

Jagex would have gone on a significant heel-turn from cutting edge after being able to make one its -GODS- a gay male, to doing that thing lots of video games do and make a contemptible murderer out of a gay male.

Not to mention that Armadyl's coming out is significantly less aggressive than this, which is gonna bring out the worst of us from the basement...
