Hopefully its another combat skill, we got too many skilling skills!

Why not a GENERAL PURPOSE skill like Archaeology and Invention that cover all the other skills?

Agreed. Every skill since Hunter has been designed to, at bare minimum, mesh heavily with other skills and every skill since then aside from Divination has been designed to cover both Combat and skilling:

- Summoning's familiars provide benefits to both skillers and killers.
- Dungeoneering is heavily combat focused but offers skilling rewards as well.
- Divination was the closest to a traditional self-contained skill at launch, but even in its earliest form featured Divine Locations to aid in other Gathering skills.
- Invention's benefits are spread across the entire game.
- Archaeology's relics provided a wide variety of buffs to both skilling and killing while certain mysteries unlocking features like Ancient Gizmos and demon Summoning.

There's no reason to assume that this one will be any different.

Actually Divination is general purpose too. Divine Charges, of course, are used for all kinds of combat and skilling activities. Portents and signs are also general purpose.

Personally going to wait to see how they announce the teaser in the Q&A.

Elite vs normal skill
99 vs 120
F2P accessible (I'm not just talking Lvl 5 or Lvl 20)

Based on RS3's history on revealing new skill, it is likelier we will see the new skill released somewhere between March to June 2023.

I consider charges to be more of an Invention thing, but you're right, portents and signs also give Divination more of a general support role.

Don't forget transmutation either. Divine charges can transmute resources required for making all kinds of items and charms to higher tier. Divination is definitely general purpose.

I don't see why the next skill should be limited to just a specific purpose.

I do like the idea of a combat skill, but I am unsure if we will ever get another combat skill. I remember when the max Lv went from 126 to 138, a lot of people got upset. And more people got mad when it went to 200. But it would be nice to finally get to 150.

We need to remember that if we get a new combat skill, they are going to have to do a lot of rebalancing. And make it possible for us to get to 150.

In my personal opinion, I think Crafting need to be updated first. We have a set of armor that can be made that is on part with top tier armor with Smithing. Magic and Range do not have that.

People keep asking for Necromancy, but Jagex has said, that is what summoning is. I don't really think there is a point in having Necromancy. And if we were able to use both Summoning and Necromancy in tandem and summon multiple things, that would kill the balance of the game. So just add more Undead Familiars to Summoning and you have Necro.

Warding can be combined we Barding and allow an excuse to update other skills that need it.

And I am sorry... we aren't getting Sailing. Jagex had made it pretty clear that Eastern Lands and Player Owned Ports is our Sailing.
Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

I think if we end up getting Necromancy it will be tied to some new lore and will perhaps be added as the 99-120 portion of summoning when they extend that to 120. I like the idea of a whole new skill, but I agree summoning is too similar an idea to not just add it to summoning in some way.

Edit: To add, I don't think we'll get any sort of gathering skill being that we have had divination and archaeology. I would like to think it would in some way we would get an elite skill, but with the push for new players so recently, I'm not sure we'll get that. I highly doubt sailing, sorry to those who have been hoping for that over the years.
