I dont get it.

They could release necromancy or demonology as elite skill. Or even combine them as some kind of occultism. Yet they would prefer upgrading such a dickfest of a skill.

However I am open for it, I hope they have some better training ideas than good old running forth and back.

I agree summoning is not what i hoped for when it was released. Even now i rarely use a familiar. I hope if they move forward with 120 SMN they also rework the skill itself.

I would much prefer it if the familiars were obtained one time and trained like we train other skills. I.E used in cmb or skills and they level up. Which then gives us xp as they level.

But i get it Jagex want to waste as much money as possible for players instead of making new skills fun.

The only new skill that wasn't a money sink is divination. Otherwise since Construction every skill has been made to specifically waste people money. Kinda disappointing IMO.

+1

We would see 1-2 new beasts of burden? We'd get what 4-8 more inv slots?

Skilling familiars woulg get what, +2 to +4 over current boosts?

We would get familiar that do a few percent more dmg?

No thank you. Good as is.

I have no objection to skills being raised to level 120, provided the content is there to justify it. It is no good increasing the level cap just for the sake of it, and then scratching around trying to find something to fill those extra levels. The content has to come first.

I can understand the motivation behind such a change, as more and more players are reaching the end-game with 99 summoning and no longer have anything to achieve or work towards. But If this is the reason, I have to ask whether increasing the level cap is the right way to address the problem. Surely players would just run into the same problem when they hit level 120, and once players hit that new cap where is there left to go? So instead of fixing the problem, this is merely moving it.

A better solution may be to have post level 99 end-game content that is sideways expandable. Jagex have suggested this in the past with skill specialisation, an idea that may be worth revisiting.

In terms of summoning than, it may be that once you reach level 99, you can train, develop and improve your familiar. Improving stats, adding features and abilities, maybe even unlocking cosmetic changes to show your familiar's progression. And then, once your familiar is maxed, instead of hitting a brick wall and having nothing left to do, you can repeat the process by training a different familiar. So first a Steel Titan, then a DreadFowl (just for fun!)

The point is, the effort spent training one familiar does not carry over into progressing the others unlike training the skill as a whole would. Also there is no limit to how many familiars could theoretically be trained, so players should never run out of something to do (and even if you do somehow manage to train all the existing types, Jagex can always add more within the existing skill levels)
–= MEGA Construction Rework =–

Freeform Buildings, Surface World Plots, Community Involvement, Environments, Skills and much, much more...!

I would had also expected some kind of pokemon style training for summoning.

Problem is that money sinks are needed because of massive amounts of items and gp flowing into this game. It is easier to make solutions to suck that material out of game than actually prevent it from happening.

The whole point of 120 sum is to make it more useful

They can do that by reworking useless familiars already in the game without raising the cap.

120 slayer makes sense, because the whole skill is useful throughout.
Not really. Only thing slayer gives is monsters that give better slayer exp that get assigned 5% of the time. Just a way to sell keys. There are two post 99 tasks.

Slayer was made as a less grindy alternative for training combat stats, now it's one of the longest grinds in the game and gets all your combat stats well into pointless virtual levels

If Jagex was still run by people with creativity I would fully support 120 summoning, there is so much that could be done with it.
You'll get it when you deserve it.
