Wrong, they handed out rewards and, in Darkscapes case, compensations for the sudden closing of those servers. Never before we had a game mode that allows you to carry the progress from a game mode to another.

Yet thats pretty much the same is it not?

All 3 of these are giving rewards that transfer over to the main game so thats nothing new.

Nah, its never been the same thing, even by definition alone. Also, rewards were never things transferred from a certain game mode. They were only a certain game mode themed thing given at the end of the said game mode and existing only in the main game, not a continuation of your work.

It is absolutely pointless to argue on free will payment. Companies need to monetize their customers to survive. Jagex has clearly told us their current monetization on their current games can't keep their business going for long.

They clearly told us they need to diversify, that's why they bought Pipeworks Studios.

Today, they delivered another clear message they need both existing and laspsed/new players for their business to grow normally.

Real world official financial report from the very same Jagex last reported a 10% revenue growth rate (18% from RS3 and 6% from OSRS) vs 23% from the overall video game industry.

All kinds of indications clearly told us Jagex aren't monetizing their existing RS3 and OSRS playerbase enough for their normal growth. They need new sources to monetize.

Consumers need to be able to distinguish NEED from greed. Understandably some consumers may not buy from their local Jagex or Game Stop, but then Jagex and Game Stop will have to go for greener pastures, perhaps outside my neighborhood.

Either way ppl are clearly overreacting on this like usual and its just sad.

Its hard to tell if they are right to be outraged by this new feature, if they are overreacting, or if they simply feel the need to discuss it. But then again, ''right'' or ''wrong'', few updates are drama free/ not controversial in our community, and that doesnt mean they are overreacting.

I think you need to define "ppl" first. Who are those "ppl"? Just a few Redditor out of the 320 mil celebrating the ongoing Baloon Party among the lapsed players who asked for welcome back gifts in the upcoming Fresh Start Worlds event? Or the ones who actually playing in the game as well as participating in discussion in other social media outside Reddit?

As far as I can see, and everybody can, there is no complaints whatsoever in the game. Even the few crickets in W21 Falador for a couple of hours yesterday have all disappeared... perhaps to greener pastures popping the 300 mil account party Balloons. :)

I am +1 with the thread creator.

I came back to RuneScape 3 years ago, I quit after EOC dropped as it was poorly released and it did not intrigue me at the time. Although Revolution allowed me to come to grips with the game upon my return, I noticed that RuneScape itself turned into just one massive PVM shell.

TONS of players have been asking for PVP / community minigames to be looked at, AND WHAT DOES JAGEX DO? in one year they somehow wipe out and destroy the dual arena and the wilderness, with STILL NOTHING in return for all the players asking for a simple PVP / minigame look at from the team.

Absolutely atrocious, there's already a lack of players in the game to do activity's and now you want them to create a NEW account???? Looking at Jagex's post they're pretty much begging players to do so in as much a business manner as they can..... smh *Shake my head*

I have always supported RuneScape, payed my monthly membership and have only received PVM eloped updates with enormous ignorance from the RuneScape team.
Be nice and help people
........ * No sarcasm towards this action please. * :P IGN:

If all ppl are saying are that "this is BS" or w/e and offer no other form of actual criticism, then they are indeed overreacting.

Plus when has canceling subs ever done anything to get any points across?

It hasnt worked in the past and it wont work now. Ppl who continue to resort to it are fooling themselves and just making a scene.

You dont have to downplay it. There were 100s and 100s of people in w21 riot. 100s of people that are not being heard for years that past and for years to come, because jagex doesn't care about their players. I understand they need to make money but you cant build a game around shareholders who dont even play the game themselves.
Imagination is more important than knowledge.

100s and 100s of people in W21 "riot"? Too bad you that was only in your dream. And show us where they are now, or if you can't show them now, show us something to see in the PAST then.

Whatever "riot" you tried so hard to advertise wasn't on MTX either. It was on fear that Jagex is diversifying and focusing more on lapsed and new players than existing ones. OSRS players are crying out loud too and obviously it is not on MTX.

Yes, Jagex need to make money, that's why they need to diversify their investments and buy higher return companies like Pipeworks, as well as expanding their Games as a Service to new players and lapsed ones too.

Shareholders can't build their company on one single community, they have to have many GaaS for different communities each with the like mind of their fellow members.
