Another thing we know about Lumford is that it pretty much shares with Lumbridge and Draynor (basically any locale that happens to be near the River Lum, save for Edgeville due to it's proximity to the Wilderness...) the distinction of having fertile farmland. If Edgeville is too far to the north, and we take note of the swamp decay and desert on the southern banks of the river, that narrows down the location to about precisely where we've been discussing.
The lore presented in the quest about Misthalin's recent famine does have a pretty interesting situation as well. Alba accuses the crown of taking too much grain from the town's food stores. Recent events suggest that Lumbridge has been in financial straits since Saradomin and Zamorak laid waste to the lands east of it, which is something that Draynor is also likely having to deal with, sans a known leader to address food stores with the Misthalinian royalty to begin with. Varrock on the other hand, is a very populated castle-town where demand for food is significantly higher.
This would leave Lumford as the best possible source of grain, which the Queen alludes to when she gives Alba a rebuttal during the feast.
As it stands, the location between Edgeville and the Grand Exchange to the north, Varrock to the East, and now north of the River Lum opposite Draynor Manor would probably be the best possible location on the map for Lumford to be, given that it shares a biome with Lumbridge and Draynor (needed due to the success of agriculture) and it would also still be adjacent to the river.
The only other "possible" area would somewhere among the vast farms generally associated with Lumbridge on the way to Varrock, but it's hard to determine where Lumford's farmland would begin and Lumbridge's, which are pinned to the city by quest lore from Cook's Assistant and One Small Favour, would end.
