There seems to be a bug where if you try to replace a crystal hatchet on your toolbelt with an imcando hatchet (presumably so you always have a top-quality hatchet on hand if you don't want to dig out your augmented one), you just lose the crystal hatchet entirely. This is going to be a big problem if a crystal hatchet + imcando hatchet is needed for a T90 hatchet.

It's basically working as intended, since every tool you can't freely take out (so basically everything with the exception of mattocks and post m&s pickaxes) always was replaced by the superior tool upon adding it.

Of course - just because it's working as intended doesn't mean it's good design or something. But let's be real - it was made for low value junk (i.e. at most some runite tool being destroyed when adding dragon) or it had some workaround (i.e. you could use toolbelted tools for gilding or upgrading to crystal).

Basically the only course of action would be for jagex introducing the free swap of tools for hatchets, they do replace lost crystal hatchets - or the t90 hatchet simply diverges from the mattock/pickaxe design and doesn't need the crystal variant. Just imcando + upgrade thing and we're good.

But honestly - I knew they would mess up something... that's why I made the hatchet, but haven't added it. Thanks for the confirmation. Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2

It's too late for anyone who's lost their tool-belt crystal hatchet, but there is this, according to the Wiki:

"Players who wish to augment a crystal hatchet already on their tool belt may speak with Doc, who will remove it from the tool belt. He will only perform this service once."

Players who haven't done it before can remove it and bank it for future potential combining with the Imcando.

Why did you even put them in your toolbelt to begin with? You can't have invention perks in your toolbelt. If you don't plan on getting more than one Imcando Hatchet, I'll suggest augment the one you get, and don't put it in your tool belt.

You don't need a crystal hatchet to get the new Imcando Hatchet anyway. You need a Dragon Hatchet, which can be bought from the GE or other players for a relatively small price.

True. But then again, there are probably some people who'll want an additional one to add to their toolbelt so that, in the words of the OP; "so [they] always have a top-quality hatchet on hand if [they] don't want to dig out [their] augmented one".

Also true. But if and when Jagex'll eventually add the t90 hatchet, if they are going to make acquiring it the same as the t90 pickaxe of Earth and Song (in other words, it'll require a crystal hatchet and the Imcando hatchet), then the players who lost their toolbelt crystal hatchet after adding the Imcando hatchet are kinda in the gutter since they'll need to go acquire another 4,000 Harmonic dust if they want to make the eventual t90 hatchet.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
