Everybody knew the news on October 19 and the herb prices are going to go up. Of course, they dropped only briefly when everybody was using up their POF beans on growth potions.

Now, they have no beans and Mod Shogun confirmed the Crux Eqal cap is no need already. That's why we are profiting big time from the new update.

and once those PvMers have their Comp/Trim cape requirements done they'll be back to camping at boss x and the Skillers won't have access to Herbs OR Seeds without having to spend a whole day / week of gp earnings just to get a few seeds

IDK where the markets will end up, but the whole thing is a waste. They could have just added 2-3 new herb plots at existing locations. I'm only doing it to unlock the maximum amount of seeds planted, because that is the fastest way to gain points if I ever need the other rewards.

If I'm going to run around the map for money I would just do clues instead. I don't do clues, so this is way down my list.

I think there is good and bad about this update.

While I tend to get the poop end of the RNG stick ( afraid I have no spoons in my bank) I did notice a fairly reduced average per 1 seed runs post update from months of normal runs.

I got about 1-2 less herbs post update on 1 stack. (limited testing, but when an average dips you notice)

My problem, is there is a reduced herb influx (not always bad) and the seed replacement plan seems to be set on 10 herbs to 1 seed. IE helwyr. Used to be 90-120 grimy lants, now its about 8-11 seeds. Fairly large dump of lants to about 1/10th of the "drop". This is obviously 1 example that stood out, but I digress. If you are reducing the influx of seeds (no mob drops reliable frequency of x4, x7, x10 seeds a drop) and have now 8 patches to utilize, unless your bank has a metic ton of seeds on standby, I dont see 4k+ seed stockpiles lasting very long.

While yes, you do get "more herbs" per time cycle with the minimum life update, and with a bit of RNG on your side, you could land slide to 140+ herbs a trip, thats also at the expense of 70-80 seeds...

IF the 10 stack seed option returned 50% value, I think I could find it a bit more tasteful of an update. As it stands, super/ultra compost gutted from this update. (3/6 = 15/x ) simple cross multiplication would be X = 30... at the moment it equals 18... so 12 less herbs under the effects of ultra compost seems wack. If X= 30 that would be 50% efficiency which is still trash, but a lot more reasonable. At best we are around 12% with compost.

I know coding can be tricky, and spaghetti math is a specialty at Jagex, but I think this is designed to be a seed dump, and herb nerf over all. Which, if they were going for farming to be profitable, and PVM harder to maintain unless you daily scape more, then they hit their mark.

Perhaps you don't realize there are still plenty of grimy herb drop sources. Some of them may have been omitted for a long time but now they can be viable again.

For instance, Demon Flash Mobs. They drop heaps of noted herbs commonly at decent quantity. The other source is Crystal Keys. Most players used to sell them or have them forgotten sitting in their banks, but now they are really good herb sources.

A lot of slayer mobs drop herbs too, and they still do. Now that they appear in Wildy frequently, and more come as random threat spawns. There are a lot of added herb sources there too.

Balancing the economy is not about the "4k+ seeds stockpile" niche group of players accumulated previously that most of them end up in their banks collecting dust, it is about the Balanced Future of all kind of RS3 players so that the game can keep growing its revenue at 18-20% annually for the next 20 years.

Herbs could crash but I really doubt it. The only herbs coming into the game are going to be from skillers and the few pvmers that want to go for the incense sticks saving perk.

We actually see herb prices shooting up since RS3 previewed the update on October 19. For instance:

dwarf weed: 6814 -> 9640
lantadyme: 5028 -> 6621
cadantine: 853 -> 1878 (more than doubled!)
kwuarm: 808 -> 1559 (almost doubled!)
ranaar: 5782 -> 6466
torstol: 6466 -> 7312

Spirit weed is about the only one seeing drop in price, and that's because Arch Glacor drop the seeds and not the herbs, unlike dwarf weeds and lantadyme that see noticeable rise in prices because many bosses drop these 2 herbs.

Falsehoods.

Fellstalk has CRASHED HARD and that is WITH DXP!

Not showing herb prices the day before but from nearly a month before....

Wrong again.

This is WITH DXP, and yet FELLSTALKS have CONTINUED TO DROP! (DOWN over 4k now!)

Of course some herbs currently are down - if fellstalk is your herb of the day you plant 500 seeds per day, if not you still plant 555 - each player who does that produces thousands of herbs each day - there just are more herbs in the game, than are processed right now. On tuesday the first players will be finished with the content, then obviously it will slowly relax. And eventually players will also get rid of that massive oversupply of seeds, which also will cause fewer herbs to enter the game - in a medium term the stuff will go up. Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2
Quick Fixes: Invention

when most players used up their growth potions, we have a big influx of herbs and prices drop logically. A lot of players have exhausted their growth potions so we are seeing many herbs like dwarf weeds, cadentine and snapdragons etc rising already.

Don't forget we can get 3x the base amount of herbs when we plant 10 seeds. Even at 80% of the price before the update, 3x80% is still 240% the profits.
