I am having this same issue. My quest progress was stalled at the point where I haven't yet fed the cat for some number of years. Now, after giving the cat milk and a wrapped sardine, I get the prompt about the meowing outside. There are no jiggling crates in the current area, and I've tried talking the the children and Gertrude. My quest progress says I "should look around the abandoned house for a reason for this behaviour". Please help with this bug, as I'm a high level now and am missing out on a lot of quests with this one as a prerequisite.

Having exact same issue. Been going on for a few days for me, submitted a ticket earlier this week or maybe even last weekend and just checked again as wanting to do smoking kills, but still no crate will let me interact or get the update from it. please fix soon!

So i was having the same issues as everyone else posted here as well to voice my issue. not being able to do this to all the quest for soul split bummed me out so much i stopped playing. 15 mins ago i said ill log on to look at acount while talking to friends, no memebership for a month and said let me see if the box jiggles and i can actually do the quest and play again too get the end game curses and spells. too my suprise the box is going on a mad one in the building next door i S**t myself and said if this works im back playing this game again and yes it worked dont know why how who what but thank you someone or something out there..

So if it still dont work for you reading this rage quit the game end your memebership and they will fix it for you after seeing youre not playing anymore.

It was fixed over a week ago, and mentioned in the Patch Note:

"Corrected an issue where a jiggling crate of kittens near Gertrude in Varrock did not appear for some players during the Gertrude's Cat quest."

Playing on mobile currently.
I am also now running into this issue.

I have searched each box about 100 times, none of the boxes are jiggling. I am seeing the "mew" above each but there is no movement.

I have tried going back through everything and tried re-doing each step, relogged countless times, no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.
