When you face north the other arm goes right through the blade. It's actually far worse. :p

It won't matter at all as "the other arm" still has to MOVE. The problem is not on the arm. It is the old school graphics engine causing illusions on MOVING objects occasionally.

Fortunately RS3 has been fixing it from time to time since 2008.

I just went to see that wiki entry, not even close to the same thing. This is a fully functional animation that interacts with the scenery in amusing ways.

It's probably just because different teams worked on the scenery vs animations and it worked well enough for release. It's no big deal it's just funny.

Not different teams at all. Read the Wiki article I quoted again. It is not a problem with specific objects. It is not a problem with specific animations. It is sometimes a MOVING OBJECT (and therefore an animation) may give different optical illusions to different players when interacting with another object.

Evidently when somebody saw "trimmed skirt" even when it wasn't touched for over 15 years in 2023, then it wasn't a problem with different teams. Actually the RS3 team has updated the graphics of the skirt to remove the confusion and potential bug abuse.

How does that saw even work? We push the logs in from the side and then what happens? On top of that, the blade is so unstable that it would fly right out of there and wipe out half the fort.

Clearly the design team has never used a tablesaw before.
Cutting lumber lengthwise and perpendicular to the *backside* of the blade would be disastrous. The animation couldn't be more wrong. Honestly, our hands would be safe because the wood lift up and ride the top of that blade for a split second and then get flung straight into our character's face long before our fingers got near it.

Fort Forinthry should offer dental and facial reconstructive surgery next update.
