To be fair - there would be no issue if skipping tasks (and I personally like the guard house, since it wasn't just fire and forget like everything else in the fort so far) wouldn't contribute to your bad luck protection - but not just
outright resetting
it. You know -
something you would expect from modern content released
- even if it would pull off something like that - but
at least it would communicate this with you
. But as said - it's old, nobody bothered to use it for almost 14 years and now it was used in a scenario in which those combination of mechanics specifically cause trouble.
Since medium levelled slayer itself was never adjusted in RS3 I also could imagine players ideally would default to the raptor (since he most likely was the fix for that, rather than adjusting chaeldar, sumona, lapalok and kuradal) up to movran, who would be the first master starting to cull awful tasks. But of course as soon as you could do movran or laniakea - you never would voluntarily go back to the raptor - unless those bone fragments could have some further meaning...
Also to add - as a new player you can start to earn trophies as soon as you complete the quest - you only need the slayer levels to actually mount them, but the raptor will safeguard them for you, once you completed the challenge 3 times.

You can disable it when getting a challenge offered, but turning them on again is part of the regular dialogue of any slayer master.
