One of the biggest headaches of my challenge has been only having access to mahogany planks through clues, most of which i cant do anyway. Now there are two lonely trees but its better than absolutely nothing! no more relying on teaks for my construction!

Have you done the quests to get access to Miscellania and the rewards from there? You can get them to cut mahogany and teak logs. This method does cost gp because you have to keep the Miscellania coffers topped up but its an alternative to spending time cutting logs

My challenge involves not doing any quest that requires killing or gives me xp in a skill i havent mastered. So pretty much until those two were added there wasn't any I could access. Honestly it was only looking at the wood box that lead me to the wiki for the trees and that they were added. I haven't seen it in the patch notes at all.

You can buy them from the GE or other players. You can also use protean planks (or any protean items and convert them to planks). Not much a challenge anyway.

Of course, the new Mahagony trees are also great additions and new options for all of us.

AFAIK, ironman can get protean items. I believe I have gotten them from the Maw and other places too.

There are a few quests that require combat before you can start it and not sure if level 3's can do them. Maybe with darts (may give combat xp) or recoil rings. Not sure if even the 2 new trees are totally safe for level 3's to get to without getting attacked.
