When I had a phat that was from farming dragon boots back when they were 350k lol. Lost that long ago though, sold it to upgrade then within MINUTES a certain player who led a pump and dump clan decided to raise rare prices so not only was I unable to buy yellow but the purple just kept rising faster than I could earn gold. When I got close again by developing a flipping method the GE buy limits killed that lol. I've come to accept I'll likely never have an OG phat again, but my mask is never leaving my keepsake. Not my first mask nor my first rare but it has always been my favorite.

I also remember the day of 6/6/06. I had been playing RuneScape for less than two years at this point. Back then, my only access to the internet was a crappy dial-up connection. I remember the internet was not working for me that day, so I couldn't log in.
I was back in the game - and on the forums - the next day, when I learned what had happened. There had been a massacre and I missed it.

I lost my crappy dial-up connection at the climax of my fight against Elvarg during the Dragon Slayer quest.
The dragon and I were both badly wounded, and I was out of food. We each prepared our killing blows - and the game shut down because the internet crashed!
I ran to the closet hallway to reset the power, then reconnected and logged back in. I wondered what had happened. Did I beat Elvarg, or did she send me to respawn at Lumbridge?
When I got back in, I was still in Elvarg's lair. I was alive, and the dragon was not!
As a result, I am the only 'Scaper I know of who actually killed Elvarg while offline!
All it took was good timing and a bad dial-up connection.

^ Thank you, and yes I agree with you. Not only do they not understand the value of our memories, but they fail to see the worth of sharing such memories in a conversational manner on the RSOF - something we can do for a few more days anyway.

It's like any subculture or demographic. People who grew up in the same area, people in the same professions, etc. have experiences and memories they share with one another that those outside the circle aren't interested in hearing if they even understand the telling.
Sure, there are RS communities elsewhere but those are dominated by a different generation of players.
In real life one of my hobbies is cigars. I'm "young" (30) but frequent a lounge where most the regulars could easily be my grandfather. The forums is similar to a cigar lounge. Though not exclusive to the middle aged and elderly those crowds prefer gathering there as they always have and the hang out spots of people in my generation just aren't the same. The reverse is true. Sometimes old people appear at clubs but typically it's millennials and gen Zers.
