Always been impressed by how quickly people come up with these funny things. Clever.

The fire whirls rotate in the opposite direction, most of the time, in Aus.
Re the situation now, two days ago there were 138 bushfires across my state. Some are burning within containment fires now, with no threat to property, some have been back-burned and some new ones have sprung up and different areas are being evacuated. We have fireies from NSQ up here helping. They must be so tired. My family and I are safe - just smokey.
Got any spare rain anyone? (Image is from RACQ)
Got to go out today picking up and delivering things and it's 33c here now, so 3 cheers for air-conditioning in cars!
Hope you are all doing ok.

I find it ironic that the majority of the fires seem to be right beside this giant body of water... can't you guys just... use the water from the ocean to put out the fires?

I know right! If only. There are planes dropping water but a lot of the fires are actually a fair way inland.
One thing, we can safely predict that the fires are not going to go further east than the coast!
It's interesting when we flood. Always are cut off from the east then.
Although we have a good port, so can get supplies in that way at least.
If they drop salt water all over the place, it will cause even more problems with desertification (it may not be a problem, in those particular areas, just yet, but it
is
slowly advancing in that direction, and speeding it up wouldn't be massively helpful).
Working, replying to threads, and hoping to get some free time to Orb in, in a bit.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...

Yeah, proper forest management is always key in preventing fires.
Just recently Trump talked about proper forest management, and made a comment about how Finland has so few forest fires due to their forest management and how they rake the leaves.
Which quickly prompted the

Trump blamed fire management for the California fires and he was shot down.

Trump was correct in the matter.
It wasn't the trees causing the spread of the fires, it was all the un-managed undergrowth that caused the fires to spread so rapidly. Yes, the winds added to the issue, however, if the forest floors had been properly managed, there wouldn't have been so much dry brush to ignite. The fires weren't spreading from treetop to treetop, it was the dry underbrush that was burning and blowing in the wind that spread the fires.
Unless, of course, you're subscribing to the directed energy weapons conspiracy. In which case, proper forest management or not, the place was going to burn down regardless.
