Heyo,

Very great thread and very clear reminder that one can not be too careful.
It's so easy to forget and relax your own security on something as vast as the internet.

Don't forget people, once it's out there or someone has any information, it could be for good - you can't take that back.

As for the reference to my twitter, he was given permission by me.

Thanks for reading! :)

Original message details are unavailable.
You may also be sent harmful files (like the .jar one below) disguised as screenshots, so always remember to look at file extensions!

To view file extensions:

¤
Folder Options > View > Uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types'
Added in the above for some extra information. :)

Emails - RWT Emails

A lot of the time, if your email is known to hijackers, you’ll be sent an email stating your account has received an infraction, and you’ll be banned if you don’t take immediate action. Although they may look legitimate, these emails are
FAKE
, so don’t click any links on them. There are various different formats of these fake emails, the one shown in the image is only an example, however there are still ways you can check to see if the email is legitimate or not.

¤
Is the email addressed to your in-game username? Jagex will always send emails to you addressed as ‘Hi [in-game username]’
¤
Has the fraud detection on your email failed for this?

Remember, Jagex will never email you about bans, lawsuits, Pmod/Fmod status, or personal information. These messages will only be sent to you via the message center.

Report any of these fake emails to by forwarding it, and then delete the email.

More information on phishing emails can be found on the Support Center here .

Just wanted to also mention that Jagex will *never* contact you through email unless you try to start an email with them first - if that makes sense. The only time they will contact you through email (which will also have a do not reply notice) is just for random promotions.

It would be nice to see this thread moved to Community Led Account Help and pinned.
