TITAN BOOKS SET TO PUBLISH ‘EPIC’ RUNESCAPE NOVELS FROM MAY 2024

"Titan Books is delighted to announce that they have acquired World Rights from games developer Jagex to develop three paperback novels set within the RuneScape universe. The first of the three novels, entitled RuneScape: The Gift of Guthix, will publish in May 2024, with the second due to publish in September 2024 and the third to publish in February 2025. Thrilling epics of betrayal and magic, these novels are sure to delight players past and present of both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.

In the first novel, Asgarnia’s fate hangs in the balance. Disparate tribes unite under the banner of Lord Raddalin, and his enemies look on in fear and hatred. Raddalin’s advisors – an uneasy alliance of Black and White knights – whisper of a discovery in the North that will give them the power to change everything.
Caught in the midst of history, a lowly scribe and the son of a Jarl hold the fate of Raddalin’s new kingdom in their hands.

From the glorious inauguration of King Raddalin’s reign to the disgraceful expulsion of the Zamorakians from Asgarnia, The Gift of Guthix tells an epic tale of the origin of magic, the plight of civil war, and the crushing defeat of the Fremennik Great Invasion. Amongst plots and betrayals, a penitent turncoat waits for her moment to leap into the unknown.

The novel will be penned by Erin M. Evans, the author of seven Forgotten Realms novels for Wizards of the Coast, including the 2011 Scribe Award winner Brimstone Angels..."

Very interesting, but not really surprising to me, our 22+ years of Runescape stories won't be just internet fictions sooner than most believe or don't believe it will happen.

We are going to get 3 new Runescape novels in the Runescape universe, with some familiar NPCs we know, starting with King Raddallin of Falador from the Invasion of Falador saga. Perhaps we will finally get to learn about the untold story of the Falador Civil War from this novel before we see it in the online game.

Wouldn't you have thought the untold sagas of Falador and the Asgardian King Raddallin were result of Guthix's Gift and the discovery of magic? This will be something really fun to read.... or we may have new Falador events leading to the release of the first of Runescape's 3 new novels next year?

Now what do you think about the 2nd and 3rd novels? We know Mod Jack told us about the Misthalin storyline beginning early next year. Will the 2nd and 3rd books be foretelling Civil Wars of not just Falador, or Misthalin, but the Three Kingdoms of Runescape?

Your thoughts?

I don't know what OSRS's playerbase has anything to do with these novels, except bots don't read them perhaps?

Who care if OSRS or RS3 still exists in 5 years, because I am sure whoever the new Jagex will be will still own and continue their 22+ years of stories.

Wizards probably, as the burning of the Wizard Tower was the major event which led to the wars between the Saradominists and black knights.

More details about the first of 3 new novels:

"Ilme is in danger. Torn between a duty to her family and her position as scribe to a wizard of King Raddalin's court, she is forced to spy for the rebel warlord, Moranna. As she carefully navigates the politics of court and the ever-present risk of execution if discovered, Ilme unintentionally plays a part in the spread of magic around the world and the forceful expansion of the realm of Asgarnia.

Sweeping from the glorious growth of King Raddalin's reign to the disgraceful expulsion of the Zamorakians from Asgarnia, this novel tells an epic tale of the origins of magic, the death of a Rune Guardian, the plight of civil war, and the crushing defeat of the Fremmenik Great Invasion. Amongst plots and betrayals, a penitent turncoat holds the fate of Asgarnia in her hands."

Llme was the person who caused all these stories to happen when she was ordered to spy on Warlord Moranna. What about the Fremmenik Invasion?

Seems like they killed a Rune Guardian and somehow burned Wizard Tower during the conflict probably accidently, and somebody accused the Kinshra for the crime, causing the Raddalin coalition to break up and the conflicts between the black knights and white knights in the centuries following that event.

The Wizard Tower Rune Guardian appeared in the remastered Rune Mysteries quest with Ariane. Seems like Gift of Guthix is an epilogue of the remastered RS3 Rune Mysteres quest, which leads to rune essences and "discovery of magic" in mainland Gielinor in the Raddalin era.

How could that happen when Raddalin lived at the end of the Fourth Age, at least 164 years before the start of Church's trilogy? I doubt any important character (apart from some vampires in Morytania) was already born then...

The new Runescape novels may come in the form of the past, present and future of Gielinor.

The first one, Gift of Guthix seems very much is about the untold mystery of the burning of the Wizard Tower, which led to the explusion of the Kinshra from the Saradomist domain. The Lost Sword of King Raddallin and Invasion of Falador storyline has tipped the iceberg of this mystery. Later on, through the remastered Rune Mysteries and Rune Memories quests, Ariane, probably the most prominent Signature Hero up to now revealed more cliffhanger of the saga of the old Wizard Tower. There were actually 4 orders of wizards, Blue, Red, Green and Grey. In Rune Memories. Ariane's master was actually a Red Wizard who tried to use her to destroy Wizard Tower again. The quest ended with Ariane being taken control by the souls of wizards of the old Wizard Tower.

The second novel, I think, narrates the present time events of the three Saradominst Kingdoms. Varrock and Fort Forinthry are in the current affaris news obviously. Continuing from Gift of Guthix, we are going to know more about Falador and Sir Amik and Sir Owen, after the Temple Knights departed with their Zarosian demon leader after the Azzanadra Quest. They will probably unveil between conflicts of the Temple Knights and Black Knights in Kandarin leading to the eventual battle where Sir Owen killed Iban in the Underground Pass. It should also give us more information about all the controversies about Sir Amik.

The last novel maybe a peek into the future of the Three Kingdoms. We may not have enough information now about it before the Misthalin storyline starting early next year.
