Here's the problems that the forums faced over the years looking back. When I started on these boards we had over 11 dedicated J-mods who's sole purpose was to maintain the runescape forums. So there was plenty of interaction with the J-mods most of it was pleasant, some of it wasn't for people. Then as time passed, those curators either left Jagex entirely and pursued other opportunities or were promoted. As time passed the curators dropped all the way down to 1. Even then that 1 was given other duties as assigned, and those duties filled up their work day, meaning that apart from their lunch / break or staying after work their use of the forums was minimalistic at best.

The rules themselves here have actually never been more free, speaking from both sides of the aisle, a look from behind the scenes so to speak in the age when we had plenty of J-mod involvement the rules were really stringent. Ironically it's also at the time that people reflect back as the golden era of runescape.

Now onto how out of date the forums actually are. To get any form of improvements requires developer time. Unfortunately they're always busy improving the game so the forums were the shoemakers children. After a busy day of coding, they'd kick the can down the proverbial road being too tired to do anything for us. So we never got nice toys, instead when we did get developer time they'd give us things we didn't ask for like fracturing the community into 3 separate groups of high level, mid level & newbies.

When the day becomes the night and the sky becomes the sea, when the clock strikes heavy and there’s no time for tea; and in our darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland and turn back the hands of time.

Just as with '
RuneScape
' it is still much alive and always remain alive.

Looking at all comments, those who came back briefly to talk about the forums being taken offline, many start to continue talking there where they stopped talking, when they took time off of these forums.
That's enough proof that nothing has died or is dead ... there's only an extended period of absence.

In order to learn the maximum about communications it sometimes is, inevitable, best to see things take a plunge into the abyss and witness where the bottom is, to find evidence about what is true or what is false.

These last years have been a '
