I haven't played RS in a couple of years, but a friend texted me the other day saying that his friend (and others) have recently had RWT bans removed by posting through Reddit.

I have no reason to doubt if it's true as he's been a friend for 15+ years, so I was wondering if Jagex would consider making the appeal process official through the accounts page? - even if just for a trial period to see how many genuine appeals there are

Thank you

Appeal an offence ... <- (link) to '
Jagex's Support Centre
'.

Unappealable offences

If the ban or mute is unappealable we have deemed the offence so severe that an appeal will not be permitted.

Unappealable offences include:

- Account hijacking
- Bug abuse
-
Real-world trading

- Other manual permanent bans (fraud, community safety)

These offences are always investigated thoroughly before being applied and will not be discussed further .

It is highly unlikely that your story is true but you always may try ...

Highly doubt it, i have an og account of mine thats been banned for over 10 years. Jagex will never unban him which i understand as this rule is more toxic then botting itself.

Yeah it's a good point, but Jagex must have had a reason for unbanning the accounts through appeals on Reddit (perhaps got something wrong dare I say?)

I have no reason to doubt the friend, but I don't know the people who got unbanned.

Im fairly sure they treat reddit the same as twitter, where they will answer your post, tell you to try to recover a lost password and give them the link to try it, most likely they responded with *insert link for ban appeal* and told them to appeal it there on the rs site, they might have gotten lucky with a rare appeal being granted for rwt but i have been trying to get that account banned every year and crickets.

OSRS actually did and acknowledged it. Some of the permanently banned accounts because of RWT have been changed to temporarily ban:

"Separately, last week we banned over 100 accounts for the use of account services. You can read more about this on the Rules of RuneScape and the following newspost. We can confirm that thorough independent checks have been made, and these bans are correct and have been upheld. There is substantial evidence to validate they are in line with our standard procedures and each ban has sufficient supporting in-game evidence to warrant the actions taken, though whilst our investigations are on-going, we have opted to change the duration to temporary. Should repeat offences occur, permanent bans will be applied to any accounts involved."

It is a really, really bad way to show the world the integrity of the game and their enforcement of their words.

I hope this will never happen in RS3 before the entire world and the industry game critics diss Jagex even more.

That's really interesting, but from what I saw people actually had to appeal through Reddit to get the accounts unbanned.

If Jagex is making mistakes, it's only fair they create an official appeal method instead of trial by social media.

RWT permanent ban should not be unbanned or reduced to temporarily ban when Jagex have the evidence RWT actually happened. RWT obviously has real world issues, and in many cases extremely serious real world legal consequences. Jagex is just not wise to jeopardize their hard earned 22 years glories.

I wouldn't have thought Jagex was unbanning accounts which were involved in RWT
