"The world’s biggest and best celebration of all things RuneScape will return in Birmingham, UK as a bonanza 2-day event on the 7th and 8th of September 2024. Many thanks for filling in the surveys, your answers have been invaluable to us while we plan the event."

Runefest is coming back from hibernation since 2019. That's the good news.

The more interesting news is it is moving from the small city of Cambridge Jagex is headquarted in, to the big city of Birmingham for the first time.

The other news is Runefest 2024 will come in early September 2024, which is still summer, instead of its usual schedule near the end of the year, winter schedule.

Are you expecting anything new in Runefest 2024? I am sure there will be reveals of future content, but I expect to hear a lot more news in Runefest 2024 compared to previous Runefest. I fully expect Jagex will have a lot more news to tell us about their new owner next summer. ;)

I do think they should focus a bit less in runefest.
A lot of players have lost faith in Jagex and do think they do things even more for money.
The people that do visit runefest are often more the die hard fans that do look at Jagex with pink glasses.

A open criticism part and real visible criticism without Jagex defenders would be nice part to win back some people.

Unfortunately I won't go to UK just for a 2-day event, although noticeably all indicators point to Jagex will have something very different to show us the coming summer, and they consider it quite seriously and arranged the event 9 months ahead of time compared to the usual 2-4 month notices in all the past Runefests.

Good news for those who plan to attend Runefest 2024 in Birmingham though, as they will have 9 months to make arrangements, and prepare for the interesting news upcoming!

See, one of the main reasons why the survey was conducted was because the vast majority of players wanted to know well in advance if RuneFest was happening or not. Knowing this now 9 months before instead of the usual April-May announcement on the same year would definitely assist people in making the proper arrangements ahead of time. This time RuneFest takes place a month before the usual slot as well.

You could always try to go a few days before and enjoy the time doing something else until RuneFest commences? ;)

Personally, after 5 years of no RuneFest, I'd definitely go even if it were for a day. I'd simply use the time to explore other areas of the United Kingdom instead of just heading to the UK for one day. :P

I've just re-read the first post and this part caught my attention.

"The more interesting news is it is moving from the small city of Cambridge Jagex is headquarted in, to the big city of Birmingham for the first time."

Runefest has
never
been held in Cambridge. It has been held in 4 different locations in London followed by the most recent 2 taking place in Farnborough.

Why would they choose September 7th and 8th for the next Runefest? Some younger people would have to back to school, especially university students would be back to their campuses.

The usual Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holiday time frame seemed to be better for most players.

As for the key announcements, Archaeology highlighted the last Runfest. This time around, I think they are going to show us the next universe saving Age of Chaos content that will probably run through 2026, whatever proper episodic name it willbe. And it will be Sailing OSRS has already shown us since 2022 barring anything surprises like it is being shelved.

1. It's the weekend. Kids don't go to school during the weekend in the UK.

2. UK students don't go back to university till the mid to end of September, if not later.

I see no problem with these dates.
