the first url says "launcher"
once the "game direct download" is clicked it changes to /download?force_test=control
AND THE two different machines do two different things!!!
The 'Game Direct Download' link at the bottom of the download page will bring you to a download page that will give you the RuneScape Game client. It installs as "RuneScape Launcher" but it is the default client. The Jagex Launcher is a separate product.
You mentioned that you don't trust the Jagex Launcher - do note that as Jagex Accounts will eventually become required to play the game, eventually all players will be required to download the Jagex Launcher and use it to launch the game. If you haven't migrated to a Jagex Account you are not required to use the Jagex Launcher for now, but at some unspecified point in the future that may change.
