Given that we only just got a lvl 80 hatchet this week, I highly doubt that a better one will appear for at least a few years yet.

But that's obviously pure speculation.

It took us almost a decade to get the new T80 hatchet, so it probably will take more than a decade, if not more, to get a new T90 hatchet.

Note that RS3 doesn't rely on gear progression for quite a long time, especially after they invented tool perks with that new skill, and then further added layers of new skilling progression foundations outside gear with Monolith powers etc.

RS3's skilling systems are so robust and built on concrete foundations for the next 22 years that essentially we don't even need another higher tier of tools forever.

I don't think it will be a long wait, mining has had level 90 for a long time now. It might be the same format with combining crystal and incando hatchets together. Even from the news post they make it sound like they are already working on it:

''With this update, we will be giving Woodcutting a modest refresh to bring it more in line with other skills. A lot of this involves behind the scene rearrangements of systems that will allow us to more easily and actively update aspects of the skill - such as adding in new Hatchets or Trees and other rewards.''

PS. I could be wrong.

The other fact is as we are getting more and more new skills and new ways to remaster old skills, we won't be able to have all the time to make carbon copy old skill content. Hence, we aren't getting old skilling gear.

At least we know we will be focusing on Necromancy for the next couple of years, while we will also have at least new fletching, firemaking, construction etc to enjoy. After a while, or maybe as soon as Necromancy comes, the influx of new players will move the Needle forward and we get more remastered old content with more perks and perhaps even newer mechanics... Hey perhaps abilities aren't limited only to combat, skilling abilities anybody? Evolution of skills will be really cool.

How about Kung Fu Woodcutting? We chop trees with our barehand like what Mod Doom tried to do? :D

Hatchet of Slash and Burn?

Sounds like a good way to utilize a great innovation of Woodcutting and Firemaking (and mineing) that was outdated very early yet still an achievement to get today, the Inferno Adze. Having the ability to toggle the Adze ability On/Off on a T99 hatchet would be a great addition.

Working a 3rd component into the already standard; imcando, crystal, and blasting hammer may be a bit strange. This would be something that follows similar quality of life updates Jagex has be creating recently to make the game more user friendly and consistent. To achieve this jagex could remove the blasting hammer from the T99 hatchet.

This would only be necessary if Jagex does not already have T120 tools in the back of their minds. Where similar achievements to the Adze were created for each gathering skill to be combined with the T99 tool.

Any thoughts.

After some digging it has come to my attention that the “Always Adze” Archeology Monolith Perk already exists.

Perhaps “ Hatchet of Life and Harmony ”.

Harmony referencing the harmonic dust to create the crystal portion of the axe similar to the song portion of Pickaxe of Earth and Song referencing the singing bowl used to create the Crystal portion of the pickaxe.

Life representing the source of collecting the Imcando portion of the hatchet, the birds nest gathered from trees. Similar to that of the Earth portion and Time portion of the already created T99 player created tools.

I'll rather see EoS (Evolution of Skilling) than just a new tier of tool.

We know we are going to be able to train a combat skill by just skilling when Necromancy comes. Why can't we train non-combat skills with combat next?

Do we really need a hatchet to chop trees? Why can't we do it with a battleaxe, or just our bare hands?

We even have skilling animation overrides for many skills like Chi-Blast Mining that show us skilling with our bare hands. Can we extend EoC abilities and/or add new EoS abilites for skilling too? For instance, can't we Pulverize a rock for mining xp... or Decimate a tree for WC xp... or Dragon Breath/Combust a tree/log for FM xp?
