As many ‘Scapers are immersed in the popularity of and engaged in social media, information is shared across various platforms. Due to the large volume of information dispersed across these platforms, combined with a forum base that may not participate in social media, I developed the idea to collate all the information into a singular thread. A new version is made each month.


The main aim of this thread is to share valuable information delivered by Jagex which can only be found on external social media sites. These include, but are not limited to:

1. Can anyone add external information they find to the thread?

- Yes! This thread is created for the forum community! If there’s any information that you’ve come across and that hasn’t been posted here, please post it here and share it with the forum community!

2. Why are there multiple versions of the thread?

- I trialed few months on a single thread, and found that it would confuse forumers if they opened the thread up, and saw old posts. All posts on the thread should be relevant to that month, therefore thread is remade each month, rather than getting the thread title of the previous month changed.

3. Some things posted on the thread aren't Jagex Mod statements, why have they been posted here?

A few submissions to this thread may include the TL;DW information posts posted to Reddit after a stream has occurred, JMods have commented on someone’s submission where it reveals information not yet shared elsewhere, or possibly a guide/helpful tip not yet posted on the forums. These will all be given appropriate credit to those who have created such posts.

4. Why bother spending time to update the forums with this information? Aren’t the forums dead anyway?

- Just look at the below screenshots from Version 1’s thread. There’s clearly a want for a thread of this type, hence its creation. As mentioned in the intro, there are forum users who don’t engage in social media, or they may only engage in one form of social media. This thread provides accessibility of external information to such users. Despite the perception, there is still a forum community alive here!

Well, I had a wonderful time off on holiday, and out of almost 40 countries travelled, I'd have to say that Taiwan has been the best so far.

Thank you to those who contributed what they could last month with what they saw, as well as the birthday wishes. It's highly appreciated! <3



Now, this post may come as a surprise to some, and maybe not to others, but I am announcing that this thread, Version 55 of Social Media News will be my final thread of running this. This decision hasn't been an easy one for me to make, and I've actually been contemplating it for the last few months, but I told myself I'd try to hold out until Version 60, to make it a full complete 5 years of running this for the community, in the hopes that during the time the forums would receive some sort of upgrade or I'd be attracted back to the game. However, this has not been the case for either, and truth be told, some significant things happened to me a little over a year ago which I've not fully been able to recover from, due to how closely tied it was to this game, and I've not actually played the game since September 2021.

News regarding the game has been declining rapidly over the past year, to the point it has felt like some months where I'm questioning whether this thread even serves a purpose anymore, with some months receiving less than 20 posts, which is significantly less than when it first started, having over 100 posts per month. I've also been getting more and more confused with some of the news and content, as I've not been playing, and reading up thoroughly to determine whether such news is relevant to share, etc.


It's been a good run for me. I'm surprised myself this even made it to 55 months, and I'm so thankful for all the support from various community members over the years. This thread originally started as a resource to share all the news Jagex shared on social media, but neglected to include the forum community, for which there is still a relatively decent community

Upon Mod Meadows leaving Jagex, it was his request that this remained stickied each month for news to continue to be shared, and it's been an absolute pleasure all this time keeping everyone up to day, and I only wish I could continue, but I believe my time is up.

If anyone wishes to take over running this thread, you'll have my blessing, however, I would prefer if it were someone who has previously contributed occasionally with posts, rather than someone completely new to the thread. Just post on here and let me know if you're interested in taking over. Of course, this will also be subject to what current CM and/or FMod team state, whether they consider there's still a need for this type of thread or not.


My love for the forum community will always be there, and there's been so many people I've either spoken to as friends, or even foes. Many people I've agreed and disagreed with. It's been an amazing run, but now I feel like it's best to say farewell for good, and to move on. I've had an amazing past 12 years on here, and a lot of situations, whether good or bad, as well as the people, have helped to shape me into who I am today, and I'll always be thankful for that.


I will continue to add news to this thread for December, although I suspect it will not be much due to the Christmas period. If no one has posted about taking over afterwards, or the thread has been deemed redundant, then it will be FFA on who can take over (I only ask that I may be credited somehow), or this will be the final thread.

Sorry to hear that the last beacon of news on this forum is about to go out. This thread was always a good place to get the news without the comments ( Reddit can be so toxic at times).

I wish you the best in your next steps going forward. Thanks for being a positive and unbiased forum user that gave the news as it came and nothing else ( regarding this thread). It was refreshing to see.

I doubt the forums will ever find the love that it so needs, thanks in part to people drifting away from them into more suitable places. Time to follow an trail of Treasure.

I remember you first starting out with your regular thread-ing, and some of your contributions, just before that time. It's sad to see your input here, gone, but I hope you manage to gain positives from the break with this, and that you eventually remember more good memories/associations than bad (in terms of weighting).
