But the first time I started to hate them was when I found out that 'tableberound', the player that had flamed me for a good twenty minutes at the GE, saying things like 'DS Vlad shouldn't you be off sucking *****' was a ranked member of Obbysarmy. At the time I was like fourteen, so I wasn't really steeled against those kind of comments yet. When I found out he was in OA I reported it to Bm0nkey, a ds general. He told me I needed to have screenshots of this kind of thing for any action to be taken, which was understandable. Shortly after this I asked him how to gain ranks. He made me recruit 25 people for each stripe rank before telling me I could apply for staff on their site. Being 14 I was pretty paranoid about losing my account to hackers, but I had spent a lot of time with these guys and felt I could trust them enough to sign up on their site. I got swiftkit as it was one of the requirements for staff acceptance. The DS *** channels made sw even more enjoyable. It was around this time that Skyder returned to RS. He was the one that told me I had been accepted and invited me into the staff channel. A few months later (though while at SW time seemed to melt away) it was announced that DS would be closing. We headed off to the edgeville monastery for one last clan picture after our 'final game' for which even our founder Ladykalvin, (who had largely stopped playing RS due to constantly being harrassed by Obby ranks and members) logged in.

A little while after we officially disbanded, Pat (Lady K) posted a PM in our *** staff channel. It was between her and Brucelee1231, a co owner of obby clans. It was something like this:

For most of us this was the straw that broke the camel's back. We began to recommend a specific sw clan to all of our former members. This clan 'MMS_Unit' was a revival of sorts, of the clan known as 'MMSyther', which had been a leech clan until their trial period in the WA, which ended because they shared a combat requirement with Obbysarmy and would be based on W44. I myself tried to SW with them, but it just wasn't fun like DS was. It felt more like people grouping together for the sole purpose of winning games than a group of friends playing a game together. They were kind and generous to us though, thankful that we were sending our members their way. For a time we thought that DS/MMS would be the new DS/OA,
but some of the newer members (DS as a SW clan had disbanded but the clan itself was still alive in ***) had a bit of hatred towards a specific MMS co owner (who they believed had e-dated her way to the top). DS was a pretty friendly place all in all, but we joked about anything and everything and some people either couldn't handle it or didn't realize they were jokes. Thanks to the tension between a few members and one MMS co owner, our new alliance was off to a bad start. Skyder was the clan owner at this point and he did his best to stop the flaming, but one particular member (I won't name him here but anyone involved knows who he is) just wouldn't let up, and eventually became the first and only person Paintballa ever banned from the clan. He didn't get banned for a while though, and the damage was done before he was removed. We returned to W44 with our new allies for one reason and one reason only- to kill the obby clans that we felt so betrayed by.

It didn't take long for them to realize that they didn't stand a chance, so they did the logical thing and started leeching our calls (It was obvious which team we were joining, but they used the excuse 'Its our world so we can go to whichever team we want, and it isn't leeching')

After what felt like months, ObbysArmy officially closed. Most of their members were sent to their higher level clan '**bywarriors' which left SW and has since flourished. We had what we wanted and would have simply left SW then, but high ranks from our new alliance (which was known as New World Order) joined our cc and began advertising it. Before long our cc (which I believe at that point was fc) was running smoothly. Eventually we decided to leave soul wars and move on to other aspects of the game. The alliance crumbled eventually, but DS was on good terms with all the clans in the alliance, and ever since SW died (it can still be played but the amount of people playing is nowhere near what it was) many DS members, staff, and leaders have joined those clans. SW Zombies and Zealmania are the only two SW clans that I have never had any problems with. They were great allies and never betrayed us, recruited our members, or flamed us. Even now when I see a ZM vex (they are based in the same world as DS, so I see one now and then) I can't help but smile knowing that they're alive and well.

SW was a fun game; we all spent ages fighting with and against each other. Deep bonds were formed between all who played it and whether those are of hatred or friendship, we all share great memories from those times, things we will never forget. Though I still feel a deep distrust towards the leaders of OW and several other clans, I hope that everyone who dedicated themselves to SW finds meaning in the rest of the game, and continues to advance.

Some people might say that DS basically copied OW when we left SW, but we left when we wanted to, without any enemies in the large alliance we had become a trusted member of. We moved on because we felt we had done all we wanted at soul wars, and were ready to experience all the other things RuneScape had to offer, not because we added so many people to our list of enemies that it grew strong and dedicated enough to forcibly remove us from our own home.

Everybody that participated in that minigame made mistakes, no one person is to blame for any event. But the Obby Clans are most certainly not the heroes they made themselves out to be in this thread.



PS - I do apologize for the multiple back-to-back posts but as anyone who was there will know, it is a long story and requires many more than 2000 characters to tell.

Well said Vlad. The beginning of this thread might of been the closest thing I've seen to propaganda on this game. Soul Wars was complex, the politics was complex, but clans don't just turn on each other for no reason, especially if it was a strong alliance. DS was a fantastic clan, with fantastic people.

It appears this thread is no longer one that is active and its thread has recently had a bit of a gravebump back to the top of this forum.
