I both agree and disagree....
Yes, RS is so much more than "just a game". and Roleplay is a fantastic and fun thing to do.... but as was stated, there's a lot to runescape.
there's things for everyone, from ppl who just like to PK to people who want to be rich, to ppl who want to roleplay all the time, to people who do a more limited version of roleplaying.
rolelaying shouldn't be mandatory, but people should at least know what it is. it can be intensely enjoyable. I wouldn't make fun of someone using high speech, or old english, but neither do I (the majority of the time, tho sometimes it can be fun) speak in those ways either.
runescape is about roleplaying, yes, but it is about so much more. it is about the freedom to do whaetever you want within the confines of the engine provided. the great thing is that, essentially, runescape is for each person what he or she chooses to make of it, and that's the beauty. it is what it needs to be for each person, all at the same time.
yes, there are some bad elements, and ppl need to be more understanding in general of different ways of approaching the game, but that doesn't mean they should neccessarily follow one particular route. if all different camps of thought could interact peacefully (which is the issue now, that they do not), then rs would be simply fantastic, most importantly bc of freedom, not a forced roleplay (tho rp can be fun, as I said.)
