Please confirm that you have followed the correct steps. Use the Wiki quick guide which has checkboxes that you can mark finished/unfinished. You should be at the last few steps of the section and video I've linked to.
Are you able to show the quest journal, or let us know what it asks you to do? Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

Have you interacted with the globe attached to the ceiling? This should initiate a cutscene and allow you to interact with the shadow core. Either of the following parts would be where you're at, linked in chronological order.

I have the same problem, after I unlocked the saradomin statue and it fell in in the room with the 4 books, I picked up the 4 books but during the part with the orrery I had a miss click during the cut scene and now when I try to click the orrery its broken and when I try the shadow focus it says I need to investigate more. I need help please!
