I cannot receive the murder mystery thread from the broken window sill. I have logged out, checked my bank, dropped all evidence to try and search for it again and nothing. I've talked to all the people around the scene, I have the fingerprints and proof that frank didn't clean the crest. But I cannot get the thread. I have been researching for an hour. I've searched my bank for anything coming close to the "Thread" any iteration that I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey there,

Did you search the murder scene in the north-eastern section? Right click the window, it should say, "Investigate Smashed window" - followed by a chat box: "Some thread seems to have been caught on a loose nail on the window."

It looks like there's one of three types of thread you should be able to receive from the smashed window: Criminal's thread (red), Criminal's thread (blue), Criminal's thread (green). The color you receive is different per player.

If you've tried the above already, what does your quest log say in regards to what you should do next?

I have investigated the window daily for the past 10 days. I've submitted 3 bug reports about it and haven't received any other communication. My quest log says that "I have taken the murder weapon. I Think it might help me." "I have the strange smelling pot. It seems like a clue."

I have the flypaper with my criminal which is Kevin so my Thread should be blue but like I have said its not in my bank, when I investigate the window it doesn't give me the thread.


I have tried on mobile, legacy, anything I can think of to try and get it to work but I can't. I posted here because I just have no clue on what else to do. I can't find anything else about this online either. I know that I am reading the guide correctly, I have investigated this window probably 30+ times total. I need it to do Ritual of the M.
