Death touch dart bug?

I received a death touch dart as one of the rewards from daily challenges, and went to go use it at Nex, and when I did use she kept attacking me, and anytime I tried to attack her again it would come up with a message stating something to the effect of “this monster is in the process of being instantly killed”. I have done this several other times at nex and never had this happen prior to today, so I’m just wondering if this was some kind of bug, or error, or what.
