as a first resort quest bug?

I am to the point where you have to catch the animals in as a first resort quest. I thought i was doing everything right. caught and relocated the platypodes, caught the diseased kebbits and the wimpy birds. they are all gone from the map now but only the wimpy birds registered as completed. i can't recatch them because they are gone and I can't continue becasue balena says i need to catch them still. what do i do?

Have you tried burning the correct herbs again for those that didn't register, to see if that attracts them back?
