auto cast bug

I am locked in to auto casting an air spell when i switch weapons from staff to dual magic. i checked settings under combat-->combat mode and confirmed that the option auto-select magic spells is unchecked. I also went and set all of the combat spells to auto cast and then turned that off but that did not work either.

any help is appreciated
