Jordan Crown - I would say to wait until you get 85 Ranged. This is so you can save yourself time and money. If you do it now, you will be hitting less, with less accuracy than what you will with 85 Ranged.
If I remember correctly from my experience, I used around 18-20 Prayer Potions per trip - that was around 1,000-2,000 Red Chinchompas used. It really varies because people use different methods when chinning.
