Quirk, I've done some research now - looks like compose key is Linux only.
But there are options for other OSes:
• Windows:
There are few 3rd party programs, that give this functionality.
I can't link to them on those forums, but W*kipedia knows them.
• Mac:
Google telled me about few ways, and probably the simplest option is to setup similar key sequences in the Cocoa text system (go find Mac guru for this, I'm from Linux side
).
• Linux:
Just use your preffered keyboard layout manager
