What is the best way to train invention before being at T70? My combat stats are between 45-55. My current invention level is 10, so it seems like the only way to train it is by manufacturing but getting all of the required parts seems to take a long time.
I'm a bit of a cheapskate and am very patient (9 years to get 99 prayer), so feel free to disagree with my advice...
I personally found that early levels I would just disassemble items in my bank that meant nothing, there are some super cheap items you can get to disassemble, and you can do really well for the first tens of levels just disassembling (like how cleaning herbs is a genuinely decent xp method for the early levels of herbs).
I invested heavily into two things:
1)
Gizmos!
- These work wonders, and can easily get you tens of thousands of xp
while training other skills!
In my case, I did
loads
of fishing, this got me lots of level 10 fishing rods, these disassemble for a lot of xp.
2) Double xp weekends - getting my gizmos up and running was expensive just for the components let alone what perks I wanted on the fishing rod! So you should definitely consider this to cut costs.
In my case of the fishing rods, I had about 10+ fishing rods that were level 10 augmented, I waited for double xp weekends, and funneled double xp stars into invention, so I got triple xp.
I wouldn't disassemble items for the gizmos until you need them, because as you level you unlock junk reduction which will save you money in the long run (less waste when you disassemble items).
So that's my advice: augment skilling items, and when double xp comes around disassemble them for huge xp. I also only did research during double xp as those can give a lot of xp too.
With combat stats in the 45-55 area, you can probably augment a weapon, get it to level 10 and disassemble it
but make sure it's a cheap weapon!
As a side note, if you're wanting to maximise your efficiency here, I would look into these calculators:
Disassembly by material.
These saved me millions as they weigh up every type of component you may need (like to build a gizmo!) and how much it would cost for each of those components according to the cost of the item (being disassembled) against how many items you need to disassemble to get that component.
i.e., if you wanted organic components and a fish that costs 10k and gives 4 components per disassembly:
You need to consider how much of that is junk, whether you're guaranteed the organic component and how many of them you need to disassemble before you can get organic (if it's not guaranteed).
Let's say it has 25% likelihood of giving an organic - you need
around
4 fish to get that organic - that makes the organic 40k.
Thankfully organics are a lot easier to get than 40k a piece, but that's an example.
