Food for thought maybe?
A recent happening in the FC, well, just got me thinking. It relates to the 'kicking for lolz' culture that seems to be an accepted part of the friends chat, from what I had gathered from a couple of star ranks when asking about it.
They've told me that it's been that way for ages and gave me the impression it's an accepted part of the chat's culture.
I do appreciate that it has the potential to be amusing in the situation when there is an established relationship of mutual teasing underpinned by a firm friendship. But I personally also feel it also has quite a strong likelihood of upsetting someone and I have seen that happen. To be excluded from the chat by a fellow player against your wishes in a manner that is entirely out of your control, even for only a few minutes while the chat is reset, has at the very least the potential to be irritating. Most may take it in the spirit that it was intended, but it would hardly be surprising if some do not.
I do appreciate too, that it's something Chrisso has indulged in (or so I'm told), but to be frank, that's a very different kettle of fish from being kicked by a fellow player. I trust Chrisso to be an accurate judge of character to be able to decide which of the long time participants in his FC are able to take such a joke in the spirit in which it's intended, and if in doubt, not to risk it. Let's face it, it's his FC too, so he has the right to play whatever pranks he likes in there anyway.
But I digress, is it at least worth thinking about, that considering the perhaps small though I believe significant likelihood of someone of someone getting upset by being kicked by a rank for 'a joke', it might be best to avoid that entirely? Is the joke, really worth the potential for upset and 'edrama' that it may unwittingly cause? Personally, I doubt it is.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. I do realise that as a more recent addition to the chat, I'm probably coming at it with outsider eyes, but I'd like to hear what others think anyway. :)
(Chrisso, if you've got any thoughts on that, it would be great to hear them. :) )

Happens every now and then Treemaid, it's happened for a long time but it's quite rare now. It doesn't bother me as long as the chat is reset quickly - in the instance I have seen reports of this weekend the trolling was a two way thing, so I don't think there's really cause for alarm.
Please can we keep discussions on this topic in-game in PM? Forums really just end up with drama and hidden posts.
Many thanks,
Mod Chrisso
