Dear KoI,

Short version is I will be resigning from KoI shortly.

This is in no way related to any dissatisfaction with the clan or its members. I’ve been Scaping on and off for over 14 years but none of my accs lasted long – until KoI. The fact I keep coming back to Scape told me my heart lies with this game but I guess I’m just one of those people who needs new challenges and can’t get too comfortable in one place.

That’s not to say I’m fickle; I’ve given as much as my limited levels allowed to KoI for over a year now. Commitment is important to me too, but in Scape terms a year is an eternity. I’ve felt my enthusiasm flagging for a little while now but experience tells me I shouldn’t just go off and play something else because I always come crawling back to Scape.

The answer? Well, it was right in front of me all along. POCs have always been, to me, the way Scape should be played. I see the GP/XP per hour human calculator mentality that has taken over the game since the GE became a thing and it makes me sad. We who value what Scape was and should still be about – a fantasy MMO where you make your own story and shape the grander story around you – need to stick together. The World 103 community provides that, as well as the ‘infinite diversity in infinite combinations’, as the Vulcans would say, that should keep even me satisfied, whilst still being able to contribute consistent commitment to one grand cause.

I admit since the bad experience with TDH I’ve been jaded, sarcastic and even outright hostile towards the idea of World 103 being a community of friends, and for that I am sincerely sorry since I now realise I was wrong. With all the antagonism flying around I was seeing the other 103 clans as competitors, at best a vehicle to promote our own RP interests. What I should have been seeing, and what I do see now, is one tree with different braches that all play the game the only way it should be played, and which need to stick together if our way of playing is to survive. Do we have arguments? Yes. Do we hate each other sometimes? Yes. But that’s part of being family.

To this end, I’m going to apply to another 103 clan to try and break down those barriers of ‘us’ and ‘them’, as well as being able to see you guys round, even if it ends up being down the hot end of a Crystal Fleet fire turret. (Also simultaneously providing that ‘change of scenery’ I require once in a while.) I will stay in KoI for another week to ensure a smooth handover for my responsibilities. I really do wish all of you the absolute best in both Scape and IRL in the future, you guys deserve it.

Thought I'd make a post saying that everyone in this clan is so friendly and helpful whenever needed. I hope everyone not only playing RuneScape, but especially in KOI is having fun and grinding to reach their goal. Enjoy.
