On the day of his only daughter's wedding, The Gob Father hears requests in his role as the Don of the Syndicate. The Gob Father's youngest caporegime**** Kiwi, in a Empire of Falador uniform, introduces his girlfriend, Lady Na*, to his family at the sprawling reception. The Gob Father's godson, Mimi, a popular runecrafter, pleads for help in securing a coveted staff position in the runecrafting guild's production of opium runes, so The Gob Father dispatches his ****igliere, Franco the Red Dragon, to the abrasive runecrafting guild head to secure the position. The head of the guild is unmoved until the morning when he wakes up with a severed head of this prized unicorn stallion.

Shortly before Christmas 5th age 982, rum baron Benjamin "Wolf Killer" Flamingo, backed by the Syndicates' rivals, the Laggadins, asks the Gob Father for investment in the emerging eastern land rum trade and protection through his political connections. The Gob Father disapproves of rum dealers, so he sends one of his soldiers, Gorajos, to spy on them. The syndicate then receives two fish wrapped in Gorajo's seasinger robes, imparting he "sleeps with the fishes." An assassination attempt by Flamingo's men lands The Gob Father in the Dueling Arena Hospital, so his oldest caporegime, Bigglz, takes command. Flamingo kidnaps Franco to pressure Bigglz to accept his deal**** Kiwi thwarts a second assassination attempt on the Gob Father at the hospital, but is accosted by corrupt White Knight captain, Sir Price Venn, who breaks his jaw; Mr. Kiwi retaliates by having Flamingo's son killed. Gluttony_JP comes up with a plan to hit Flamingo and Sir Price that Mr. Kiwi approves over Franco and Bigglz's objections:
on pretext of settling the disupte****. Kiwi lures the pair to a restaurant, retrieves a planted crossbow, and murders them.
