Happy birthday EOF!

Alright guys I have a couple of announcements to make. First and foremost, as I’ve previously mentioned… it’s our birthday! We are once again celebrating another wonderful, excitement filled year, but at the same time this year is extra special. This year we are celebrating out TENTH BIRTHDAY! That’s right, for the past decade The Empire of Falador has not simply existed but grew, thrived and dominated the landscape of World 83. This is truly an accomplishment worthy of recognition as few clans, and even fewer POCs have ever achieved such a feat. So congratulations EOF, and happy birthday!

Secondly, I regret to announce that while this is our tenth birthday we will not be hosting an event to commemorate it. There will be no party, ball or festivities. Only this, only farewell. The Empire of Falador is officially shutting its gates for good. I never thought I would ever have to say that, and I imagine you never dreamed you would have to read it. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and this is ours. Thankfully our end did not come in the form of an outside invasion or internal strife, but rather we succumb to that which all men must obey; Time.

The fact of the matter is we’ve all grown up and gotten jobs or gone off to school. Time simply wasn’t on our side and the longer we tried to make it work the harder things became. So the decision was made that on our tenth birthday, today, the clan would close. This decision was not made lightly. Every alternative was explored, but in the end everyone agreed that this was for the best.

I want to thank each and every member of EOF, past and present, for the time and effort you’ve put into the empire. We could never have gotten here without you. We are one of the largest POCs in terms of overall land ownership, and we have been a respected member of our community and neighboring communities for many years. And it’s all thanks to you guys, the EOFians. My EOFians.
Words can’t describe how proud I am of all of you. I am thankful that I was able to spend what time I could in such wonderful company.

Over the course of the next week I will outline in detail what we plan to do with out lands. The summary of the idea is this:

I will divide the land claim up into provinces. Once that is done I will post a list of said provinces itemizing their contents and borders. From there I will leave the list on this thread, and any new clan, not already established, can contact me and I will gift them their preferred province. No strings attached and no funny business. Free land for new clans.

I realized a while ago that the death and stagnation of World 83 was due to members such as myself from the older early generations growing complacent with the status quo. We made rules and tactics for ignoring rivals and making it exceedingly difficult for new POCs. This is my way of trying to make amends for the part I played in that.

Last I believe I owe an apology to everyone who currently is, or ever has been, in EOF.
Six years ago I was entrusted with the wellbeing of our clan, and I’ve just had to do the hardest thing any clan leader will ever have to do. Close it down. It should never have had to come to this, but because of my greed, pride and insecurity I have ultimately failed all of you.

One of the most important jobs of any clan leader is arguable to pass the torch onto the next person. Time and time again I have had this opportunity, I had every reason to do it and I swore up and down that it was something I was going to do eventually. Needless to say I didn’t, and because I didn’t I grew complacent. As I grew complacent so did you and so our spiral downwards to this point grew steeper.

This is my fault because I didn’t trust you guys to carry on without me when in reality EOF was around long before I came long, and all the evidence suggested that it would be around long after I left. I saw every possible heir as either incompetent or simply not ready, but I was the same way when I came to the throne. I simply couldn’t let go and because of that we had to close EOF.

I thank you for trusting me with this job six years ago. It means the world to me, it really does. I’m just sorry I couldn’t do a better job. I’m sorry there won’t be an eleventh birthday. I’m just sorry.

I wondered if this day would ever come...and it is a sad one. Ryan, don't beat yourself up over your decision (as I know you're given to do). Rather, enjoy what EOF was. I have seen many great clans fold in my time. Sometimes it just has to be. Y'all made some really strong friendships out of it, and there's something to be said for growing up and moving on.

Wish everyone the best, stay in touch. My time in EOF was phenomenal, and I know that wherever y'all go in life, what you learned through EOF will serve you well.

Truly a shame to see such a prominent member of the POC world on RuneScape come to an end. I still remember when I first got introduced to the concept of POCs on RuneScape, and the first two I heard about were the Kingdom of Varrock, and the Empire of Falador. It's a tragedy to see such a shining light of POCs blinker out, but I wish you, and your former clanmates, the absolute best in your future endeavours whether that be on RS or IRL. Well done on having such a marvellous clan; one that commanded respect and was a household name amongst POCs.
