Lava Titan Lure: The lurer will give you a lava titan pouch and some armor (may try to show how to glitch out a cape or another cosmetic effect) and try to convince you to hold your 2-key and click the lava titan. The lava titan’s special ability is to teleport you into deep Wildy. So when you click the titan while holding your 2 key it automatically teleports you into danger where a team or the lurer will be waiting to teleblock and stun. (Never Hold done any Keys for players)

ED2 Lure: A lurer will offer to run ED2 with you. Once you get there they will try to convince you that you need a key, item, or to kill a monster/boss/gatekeeper outside of the gate that leads to the Wilderness. Once you get far enough into the wild, ambush occurs. (Check what areas are safe in the Wilderness. Ed2 and its specific area is safe but it is only a short walk to the exit gate where the Wildy begins.) Also, remember that when you join a group with a lurer they can r-click you in the group window list and Inspect you, seeing your current inventory, gear, and familiar! They will not lure you into Wild unless they know you stand little chance of beating them.

Gold Pile Lure: Lurers will try to convince you somehow to bring a lot of your valuable items, then they will leave a pile of gold inside a dangerous PvP area and wait for you to either run out or try to telegrab it. However, they usually place it behind a tree or other blockable object so you are dragged into the danger zone. Also telegrab doesn't even work in Wildy.. Then they Stun, teleblock, kill.

Abyss lure: A lurer will attempt to convince you to leave the Abyss (where you are training in your high level combat gear). The lurer will try to make you leave the Abyss by offering to pay you to give them your training spot or they might pretend that they are an old friend who owes you money, but once you leave they won't give you anything because they just wanted to lure you out of the Abyss and will be waiting for you in the Wilderness when you attempt to return to the Abyss to continue your training. You'll then get rushed by a team of Player Killers, teleport blocked and killed before you can get to safety.

Trade scam: A scammer will trade you and place a high-value item in the trade window, they then decline the trade and tell you that they will sell it to you for a reduced price but you have to trade them quickly because they have to go now. You want to buy the item for a reduced price because you think that you can profit a lot from it. You open another trade window with the scammer to buy that item. The scammer offers the item again and you put your money in the trade window, then the scammer closes the window a second time and tells you that you have to be quick because they have to go now. They may repeat this step more than once whilst stressing that you have to be quick and that they are doing you a huge favor by giving you a good deal and not to mess them around because they can easily get more money for the item by selling it to someone else. After this, you then open a final trade window with the scammer and you quickly type the amount of money that you’re going to buy the item for, but this time the scammer places a different item in the trade window that looks very similar to the one that he offered to sell you and because you are trying to trade them quickly you forget to check what item it is that you are trading them for and also don't check the value of it and you end up getting scammed for a lot of money.

Grand Exchange scam: A scammer will ask you to buy an item for them off the Grand Exchange because they have reached their buy limit for the next 4 hours. They might ask you to buy 4000 Blood drain scrolls which aren’t buying for 150 GP (regular GE price) so they explain that the scrolls are only buying at 2,000 GP each when actually they are only that price because nobody makes them as the familiar is relatively useless to summon and the only person who is selling the scrolls on the Grand Exchange is the scammer and they've set a really high sell price. You want to be a kind person so end up paying 8,000,000 GP for 4000 Blood drain scrolls instead of just 600,000 GP and the moment they buy the scammer logs out because he just managed to sell 4000 Blood drain scrolls for 2,000 GP each to you via the Grand Exchange. You’re then stuck with the Scrolls which you can’t resell for the price same that you bought them for because they aren't even worth 150 GP each and the scammer then hops world to do it to somebody else.

Skull Trick lures (there are several):

Skull Trick 1 - A Player attacks you and tricks you into fighting back whilst you are in the Wildernesss. They let you think that they are bad at PvP and then logout and log back in on a different account with a very similar name to their other account and now the same player is using higher stats and better gear. You immediately try to kill that player because you think that you can defeat them, but then you skull on them and are then killed and lose all of your items.

Skull Trick 2 - A Skull Tricker will stand next to the NPC (could be a dragon) or Player that you are attacking whilst you are not Skulled when in the Wilderness and the Skull Tricker will then use an item to increase the size of their character’s click box which makes you accidentally click on the Skull Tricker's character even though you thought you were clicking to attack something else. You then end up accidentally Skulling yourself and the Skull Tricker will then use either the same account or a different account to kill you with in order to make you lose your items.
Skull Trick 3 - Area of Effect Abilities Skull Trick: You are attacking an NPC (could be whilst on a Slayer Task) in the Wilderness or are fighting back against a player who started attacking you first (you are not Skulled). You are using Ranged with the Evolution of Combat System to fight and use Ricochet and Bombardment (Area of Effect Abilities which hit nearby targets in addition to the one that you are focusing on) in your Ability Rotation. The Skull Tricker can see this and so they stand close to your target whilst you are fighting so that your Area of Effect Abilities will hit their character too. Once they do, you will immediately become Skulled because the game registers this as you initiating a fight with the Skull Tricker's character. You'll then be killed by Player Killers and will lose your items.

Skull Trick 4 - Force Skull bugs: I have heard rumour of a new bug that allows Skull Trickers to Force Skull you even if you are not in combat. There were also two types of Force Skull bugs that were used in the past, which have now been fixed, I believe these were:

Scenario 1 . A Skull Tricker uses Shield Dome on a player who is fighting somebody else, which forced their target to become Skulled on the Skull Tricker.

Scenario 2. A Skull Tricker would use an ability like Preparation or Storm Shards on another player who was not Skulled and would then exit combat with their target. This would force their target's familiar to begin attacking the Skull Tricker which would result in the innocent player becoming Skulled and this worked even if you didn't try to fight back and had auto-retaliate turned off.

Safe Zone movement animation delay lure (bug abuse): Lurers convince you to use items on a player (such as Confetti or a Bubble blower) whilst both of you are standing in either the Wilderness Safe Zone or Red Portal Safe Zone and the moment you do, you will be forced into the PvP combat zone because the lurer is abusing a bug that allows them to manipulate their character’s on-screen position (so they weren't actually standing in the safe zone at all but tricked you into believing that they were.). The moment you click to use an item on them or follow them you will be dragged out of the Wilderness safe zone, then you will die to a group of Player Killers. In Red Portal you will be dragged out of the Safe Zone when attempting to either Follow, Duel, Trade, Request Assistance and Use an Item on another player and you will not keep any items upon Death.

Burnt Lobster Scam: Someone tries to sell a burnt lobster that will not stack with other lobsters. If the price is hundreds of mills it's probably a scam. All though, Idk what the street price is either.

Grouping System lure/Mazscam (Raid Instance): A lurer will convince to join a Group then they will ask you to enter a Raid Instance (Liberation of Mazcab) and will convince you to drop your items before accepting a trade request. The moment they know that you have dropped your items they will immediately kick you from the Group, thus removing you from the Raid Instance and you will be unable to re-enter the Raid Instance so won't be able to get any of your items back.

Grouping System lure: A lurer will invite you to an in-game Group and they will set the Group to either a mini-game or a boss and will ask you to Ready Up in the Group. Then they will ask you to drop your items and the moment they know that you have dropped your items they will teleport you to the location that the Group was set to. You’ll then be unable to get your items back.

Clan Wars lure: A lurer will convince you to enter Purple Portal at Clan Wars (in the Gamer’s Grotto). They will convince you that you will be safe from death but they will have a team of 6-10+ PKers in Dharok sets with low HP waiting for you by the Portal entrance. The moment you enter the Purple Portal the PKers will kill you, then you’ll lose all of your items on Death.

Citadel lure: A lurer will ask you to enter their citadel and once you have passed the guards the lurer will ask you to drop your items and trade them. Once they know that you have dropped your items they will ban you from the Clan Citadel and you will be instantly taken out of the Citadel and will now be unable to pass the guards which means you won’t be able to pick your items back up.

JMod/PMod Hack: A player will message you saying you have been chosen to be a Player Moderator, or that they are working for Jagex (a Jmod). This is always a lie, JMods will always have crowns and never speak to you without one as a JMod. They will send you to a link (application) that is a RS phishing site.

Tips on how to avoid getting scammed/Lured:

Remember folks, the second trade window is far more important and deserves more attention than the first!

•If you do not use cosmetic overrides and hide your valuable equipment worn from the public, eventually a lurer/scammer will mark you and try to convince you either in public chat or private to do something with them. The easiest way to tell they are a bad actor is to bank everything so that you are not risking anything. If they attempt to get you to bring back valuable stuff, red flag. Think about it, if they aren’t trying to lure/scam you why do you need to have valuable items on you? If they no longer talk to you there’s your answer.

•If you suspect someone is a lurer/scammer; stop communicating to them for a few minutes (and think about what they are trying to do), they will try to rush you so you can’t think/focus. Slow down and try to understand why they are asking you to do whatever. Question them, do not do what they ask (do not go with, do not trade with them, do not click on the lava titan while holding 2, do not go in your bank to withdraw valuables) unless you fully understand and maybe have asked a more experienced clannie what they think. If the sus individual doesn’t make sense just go about your business. If they won’t leave you alone, block them, you can try to get them to say something incriminating to report, but if they don’t just block them. If they cannot lure/scam enough people they will eventually move on to another game.

•If at any time a random person pms you, be suspicious (best to really just keep private set to friends and delete people you can’t trust). If you aren’t familiar with the Wilderness or other unsafe PvP areas of the game, you might want to read up a little or watch some youtube guides on how to avoid getting lured/scammed.

•You cannot place gold into your coin pouch in the Wilderness or other Dangerous PvP! So even if you have absolutely nothing to risk if a lurer convinces you to remove 10m from your coin pouch in the wildy you will not be able to place it back in until you leave the Dangerous PvP zone.

•There are Wilderness areas in some unsuspecting locations of RS, some examples: in the Edgeville Dungeon there is a gate that leads to Dangerous Wilderness (PvP Zone) inside the dungeon itself (where Earth Warriors are). Spot in Chaos Tunnels is another, and Ice Plateau.
Remember that Lurers/Scammers will try and use cc/fc or private to see what world you’re on. So if you start hopping they will try to follow you. You will have to keep private on friends only (and make sure they don't have alts on your list) and kick guests in your fc/cc that are suspicious during the time.

•One of the simplest mantras: if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. And if you have to carry valuable stuff or do something odd that doesn't make sense (like dropping your items on the ground during a group raid or group dungeon because your items are stopping the group, they want to trade you money, or some other nonsense); stop, they will try to rush you so you can’t think/focus. Slow down and try to understand why they are asking you to do whatever. Question them, do not do what they ask unless you fully understand and maybe have asked a more experienced clannie what they think. If the sus individual doesn’t make sense just go about your business. If they won’t leave you alone, block them, you can try to get them to say something incriminating, but if they don’t just block them. If they cannot lure/scam enough people they will eventually move on to another game.

•Most of the time lurers/scammers will not want to waste more than 5 minutes or 10 minutes unless you have hundreds of mills and they are desperate.

•Stop and ask the cc if they have heard of a lure/scam like what you are seeing.

•Leave the warning screens for Dangerous PvP checked in the in-game settings (Gameplay>Interfaces>Warning Screens> Check everything dangerous, especially Wilderness Entry) if you do uncheck it because you’re doing so low-risk PvP try to remember to recheck it when you’re done going into the Wildy for a while.

•Do not follow random people into locations you do not know. Especially if you are carrying valuable items (bank them first and bank your gold in the pouch for safe measures, or do not withdraw it into your inventory). Do not drop items on the ground for any reason unless you want to lose them.

•Get the Google Authenticator to make it more difficult to get hacked.

•There are a variety of trade scams, in which the scammer will get you to place a valuable item in the trade window. They then add the agreed upon gold/shards, then say they need to go somewhere else and for you to meet them there. They then remove their gold/shards and replace it with a teletab and accept trade hoping you’ve forgotten your valuable item is still up for the trade. There are multiple variations of these types of scams. It’s best to join a large trading discord (Flipaholics is a good one) that has a scams channel for people to report scams they’ve encountered. Or just google and look for info that way.
