It is currently the second best non-degradable platebody in the game, only beaten by the Bandos chestplate which grants both a prayer and strength bonus. Due to it being inferior to a significantly less expensive armour, it is most commonly worn to show wealth.

The Third-age platebody is a memers-only piece of armour that is part of the Third age warrior set, far superior than the magicians and archers. To wear any component of the set a player needs at least 350 Defence and must be triggered at any objection towards the magnificent piece of metal. To obtain a third age platebody the player can either complete a hard Treasure trail, borrow money from someone, get lucky at staking, camp God Wars II all day, or purchase from the Grand Exchange with the mindset of buying a colored steel platebody overpriced.
