Did you know that the gastrointestinal tract can function normally without any input from the central nervous system? It actually has its own innervation known as the 'enteric nervous system' and it can work independently however has many connections to the central nervous system. An example of the usefulness of the connection between both is the cephalic reflex. Where upon sight or scent of food your stomach will begin to release the relevant enzymes in preparation for digestion.
Did you know the joints which join the cranial bones are referred to as sutures? They are a type of fibrous joint, allowing very little movement. They are named based on the plane they arise in. For example the sagittal suture follows the sagittal plane.
